Popular Links for Big Game Hunter
These are links users have found to be helpful for Big Game Hunter.

Talking to the Hunter NPCs at Perspice (for Defiant) & Kain's Command (for Guardians), while on the Quest for Hunter Tokens, will allow you to see which rare mobs are up, and where they are found. Check back frequently because there are ALWAYS rares up in Scarwood. When one dies, another spawns.

These are also an excellent way to get Notoriety. As each token gained rewards a large amount, and turning in all 5 tokens is even more. Making the rep easily capped.

Check out Rare Mob Compendium for detailed information on known spawn locations. Also see A Hunter's Guide to Scarwood Reach.

Speak with Hunters in Kain Command

If you are lazy and not always read the quest text a quick hint.
You can speak to the hunters in Kain's Command, and they will tell you if one of the rare is active, and where it prowls. That way you will get an idea which areas to search in if there is actually one or more active

Some quick copy/paste. Most of them patrol so be sure to look around for them in the area. Most are neutral so will not attack till you do. Interact with the hunters at Kain's Command to get an idea which of them is currently spawned. Not sure if they tell all. Also the tracking potions makes it quite a lot easier. Gonna plot them on a map whenever I get around to being ingame and having the time

• Ahasa – 2731, 3765
• Barbwing – 3600, 3660
• Blackclaw - 3449, 4412
• Blister - 3396, 4098
• Bloodwhisker - 3850, 4165

Just using "tar", I've found, can target mobs with similar names to the Rares. Therefore, as a macro, I use:

suppressmacrofailures

The only issue with this macro is the aforementioned Gurok/Gurock name issue. At least according to Zam, the NPC's name is spelled Gurock. You can also leave out the suppressmacrofailures line, since it will spam your chat window with "target not found" messages anyway.

The Hunt quest for these NMs gives huge amounts of notoriety. 500 per individual monster, and then another 5000 per 5 traded in, and you CAN repeat kill monsters. 7500 notoriety and ~1 platinum per cycle. It's repeatable as often as you have the patience for, rather than being a daily. If you can grind up to Honored on weaker NMs like Barbwing and Venomspitter, and can get the Hunter's Secrets book, all of the difficult nms like Nuhtu and Rivetskull become pushovers, and you can get the achievement pretty easily too. Half the challenge is finding them, even with the tracking potions (which are incredibly helpful), honestly.
