Strategy

Assault Commander Jorb is a fairly tank and spank encounter with a few abilities to note. All of Jorb's melee attacks have cleave, and a wider radius than most bosses. Melee DPS are best advised to stand directly behind the boss. Jorb also has a knockback attack, which does relatively little damage, but can make his first emoted ability a minor coordination challenge.

Jorb performs two emotes at random raid members. The first one is "(Player), stand at attention!". He will then pull that raid member within melee striking distance. The tank must turn the boss 180 degrees, facing away from the raid member.

The other emote is "(Player), you cannot hide!". This causes the player to be feared for a short period of time, and can be cleansed.

Alternate Strategy

This is pretty much a tank and spank with one interesting dynamic. Currently he has three moves. First he does a move that dialouge's "player can not hide", we did not notice any effect of this. I assume this is potentially a one shot LOS emote that is currently bugged, if I or anyone finds out I'll be sure to post. Secondly, he does a knockback move. This does not hit hard but can be quickly followed by the next emote which can be dangerous if you are not close enough to move him. I suggest using shield charge to immediately ground yourself next to him. The last one he says "player need stand at attention" this draws a player in right in front of the mob and freezes them. Due to the fact this guy hits fairly hard and cleaves all moves with a more considerably wider cone then most elite mobs. The tank must immediately spin him 180 degrees by moving around him clockwise/counter clockwise which ever you prefer. To avoid the immediate cleave that follows this emote the DPS should be ranged if possible. If they are melee I suggest standing directly at a 45 degree angle behind his right shoulder so the tank can spin him counter-clockwise towards his left shoulder and the DPS need only move slightly.

Suggested Party Build

  • 1 - Tank (Physical Mitigation Build)
  • 2 - Cleric
  • 1 - Bard
  • 5 - DPS (Preferably Ranged)

Ranged Tanking / Kiting FTW

This boss can be ranged tanked, and even kited by a ranged dps. Since his emote cleaves cause him to pause, and running in a circle turns him, you will likely never be hit and whoever is pulled in is usually safe with the boss turning to follow the kiter. And since he will only auto attack when in melee range of his target, other DPS following or in front of him are safe.

After all our combat rezzes were used up and the tank died, my rogue was next on the threat table... so I just ran like ****. Kited him well past his enrage timer even. Hasted Shot helped. Cleric ranged tanking can work too, but have to be a lot quicker on running.
