So I'm thinking Cleric-->Inquisitor-->Justicar-->Shaman
I literally see no weaknesses with this setup....thoughts?

Also please dont just BUMP post especially if you are double posting, and dont do it to your own. Its just bad form man.
Trust me browse the entire forums for topics you dont have to be at the top of the list to be noticed.

Excuse my rudeness kind sir and I realize everything is going to be balanced as best as
it can but some more feedback would be nice. Maybe compare other setups against it and
discuss the pros/cons?

Sorry I didnt give more info before I was just posting that as I went to do some more research.
Here first off let me post all the class choices there are 3 more for each calling still unannounced really

Warrior

1. Beastmaster
2. Champion
3. Paladin
4. Paragon
5. Reaver
6. Riftblade
7. Void Knight
8. Warlord
Cleric

1. Cabalist
2. Druid
3. Purifier
4. Inquisitor
5. Justicar
6. Sentinel
7. Shaman
8. Warden

Rogue

1. Assassin
2. Bard
3. Blade Dancer
4. Marksman
5. Nightblade
6. Ranger
7. Riftstalker
8. Saboteur

Mage

1. Archon
2. Chloromancer
3. Dominator
4. Elementalist
5. Necromancer
6. Pyromancer
7. Storm Caller
8. Warlock

Now for your set up its a sound one but can be done with EVER calling, every calling has a healer class a dps a nukers, etc. So no one calling will be better than another over all.

Yeah but obviously a Rogue calling is going to be better at damage than a cleric right?
I guess what I was really asking was don't you think the setup I presented would excel well
in a solo pvp environment. Like taking on multiple enemies at once or one after another and
be able to keep on trucking

I think that the class in itself will be ok, but because it is a healer its DPS will be a lot less than a rogue or mage class. The fact that they can heal AND dps will make them formidible, but we really won't know anything until the game is released.

Look, this is a whole new game. You can't go on what other games have had their classes titled as. You have to go into this with an open mind.

OP was correct in his assumption, no other class can keep up with the perfect healing/dps balance, the shaman justicar compliment eachother too well, obviously 2 pyros on anyone and boom their done but in a 1v1 setting i dont see justicar/sham getting beat.

Beastmaster is supposed to be a tank.

Okay you have to remember that ALL of this classes even if they have same names as other game classes are completely different
Ranger is melee based for example

You have to go in with a completely open mind and not expect anything to work the way it has before.

uuuhh i dunno about all that. Honestly I think the game is going to make the classes similar in some ways to give people a familiarity when they play. No one wants to level a character just to find out it's not what they expected, that's why Rift gives you so many more options. But it's definitely still going to have the standard classics.

Ultimate solo class seems almost like a play on words considering that there are multiple souls that one can use, so i'd figure this should be more like a ultimate solo class mix (or Ultimate solo soul mix). I think atm with the current information available best solo mix will be in the cleric tree. If I had to pick one for each calling, i'd say anything with assassin will probably be great for soloing for the rogue calling, champion mixed with something for the warrior calling, and elementalist mixed with pyro and something else for the mage calling.

We've been told by someone in the alpha that you should not expect things to be just the same as you're used to in other games. It's a mistake to think it will all be the same. Rift is taking steps to be something besides the same old thing with different graphics and storyline.

About the setup Inquisitor/Justicar/Shaman, although i'm going to make it all points from me will prob be spent only in Justicar !! Some souls can be more effective if they are pure (all points spent in 1 soul) then the mixing calling souls. Combinations will prob be better suited for PvP although it's still early to jump in conclusions.

That all said let's hope Trion doesn't stall us any longer !! Ouuuuuuu (OVER-EXCITED) !!

There won't be just 1 beat-all solo class, there never is. Shaman/Whatever will be really strong 1v1 against MDPS/RDPS that can't kite. But I imagine would lose to a RDPS that can kite, or a class with tons of CC and some DPS. W/E tho, balance will be similar to most other MMOs I'd imagine.

I do believe there will be a mix or pure soul that will stand out more than others when it comes to 1v1 PvP. But skill will way more than any soul you put together. Just because you make the "ultimate" character doesn't mean you can play that character. Also remember the one rule "There's always some out there bigger and badder!"

I personally believe that there will be a few certain soul make-ups that will be balanced between each other among similar skilled players. Certain souls will always have an advantage over another specific but I don't believe that there will be one who rules them all. I'm very excited to see how it pans out because I feel like this type of class creation will allow skilled based players to truly shine.

Classes than can do solid dps and are able to heal/buff themselves typically do the best long term soloing.

Terminology time!

Calling=Warrior, Rogue, Cleric, Shaman
Souls=Available skill sets.
Build=Combination of souls

All callings will have entirely valid solo builds comprised of several souls. So... there will be no "ultimate" calling. Also, when combining souls, you are still limited to the available skill points. So you will always be striving to optimize survivability vs DPS, which will shift based on different encounters. The game will force you to switch setups on the fly, for example, from a single target to an AoE spec.

Also, every soul brings something different to the table and it will be important to combine souls which complement each other. For example, inquisitor stuns and slows and is good at ranged casting, whereas shamans are melee based, so the two don't complement each other.

Hopefully, all callings will be able be able to solo effectively. However I suspect there will be certain builds more effective than others, but the nice thing is you can swap into it whenever you want and still have 3 more builds for groups/raids/PvP/whatever you want.

I think the Justicar will be a great solo class, well have to see if this is true.
But my 2 cents are that he will be a nice solo-er.
