Convictions??Follow

I'm currently a lvl 11 Cleric.
I have been fine with my healing up until I just died 5 minuets ago.
I was attacking lvl 7 mobs and I couldn't heal myself, because I didn't have any convictions.
Up until this point, I would just begin attacking, and I would have a "Conviction" and I'd be able to heal myself.
Now I've looked everywhere for something to explain to me what a "Conviction" ACTUALLY is, and I've found NOTHING!!!
Someone please help, and go into DEEP detail please!!!!

You get convictions from using light based attacks. I believe that's what it says in the description anyway.

Well, I went back to playing after I posted this. I turned on my "Salvation" and my "Cavalier" (Which I had forgetton to turn on in the last battle with the lvl 7 mobs) and with just the first swing, I got a conviction....
I guess I'm still confused why those two abilities had to be turned on for me to get convictions.
Also, thank you for your help.

I believe they (or at least some of the buffs) say that they generate convictions...and you can see when you have some in the icon bar showing active buffs (I think you can have up to 4 "stored" at a time...but they all fade shortly after being out of combat). I've only tried Shaman/Justicar with a zero point druid soul so far...and that's how it worked. When I died, and possibly was debuffed by another mob...my buffs had to be reapplied...also, most of the buffs last 1 hour so you have to make sure they are up to build convictions :)

I don't mean to be rude, but you really should read your abilities' descriptions.

Salvation does not affect convictions at all. It should be on regardless, but it is not what generates your convictions. Salvation causes your attacks to heal you; the description has more technical details.

Cavalier is the buff that grants you convictions for using life based-damaging abilities. Most of the Justicar offensive abilities are life based, and so most attacks will generate a conviction while this buff is active. Without this buff you will not generate convictions, because no abilities generate convictions by themselves.

I'm leveling my first tank. I've chosen Cleric because of he's survavibility.
What suprised me, that conviction isn't builds for any damage I make.
Cavalier (and Salvation) is passive now, so i can't control if it is on or off.
Salvation is passive to, and i can see it works. But small icon "class mechanic" which shows conviction is dark all the time.
Where is my fault (if it is my fault of course...)?
