It does look great, I just hope when it comes down to all of the skill spamming and groups going through it that it doesn't bottleneck alot of people's pcs.

Agree. But we must say it looks awesome!

The developers should not design the game based on customers running outdated technologies. They should always push to create the most innovating material to date. It's the methodology of "design for the minimum only" that causes so many games to fail.

It's not just the player's pc's I'm worried about, it's the servers they are using and if those are capable of running a game like this completely lag free. It would be fairly disappointing for there to be lag on high action battles like raid boss fights or rift fights.

Looks fantastic, as far as the debate on comp performance goes I stand in the middle ground (as does my rig lol), but yeah pushing limits is always a good thing but bottlenecks can be a huge issue for people just trying to scrape by on a 5 year old machine or whathaveyou

This game is by far not breaking any graphical "firsts"...

Modern severs can handle a lot of load, the problem is usually finding out how to tune them and separate the load between available resources.

I don't see any server lag issues - especially with Trion's budget.

I agree moelester, but that's why there are video options to tune down various graphical settings.

Wasn't it mentioned that the engine is only running at 50% of its capacity right now in alpha? Thats good to hear knowing that as the game ages and average hardware levels improve the game will scale with them.

It is important to have nice graphics, but it's not everything. Fun plays a bigger factor!

Honestly, that's why they use VIP codes and beta keys, so that they can control the inflow of people to analyze their servers and to insure they get proper data from players. If they let them all flood in, they'd be screwed.

I like the graphics and I can see myself jumping around in the city. I do miss however, a somewhat cozy/home feeling. In the clip it's a bit empty but I guess ingame there will be more vendors and other players around to fill up the empty space.

Trion has a new way of positioning using their servers for their online games.

http://venturebeat.com/2010/04/26/trion-worlds-reveals-slate-of-online-games-to-disrupt-video-game-industry/ For anyone who is interested in reading it.

However I have to admit I also have the worry as you do. Seeing I am from the Netherlands and a.t.m. everything Trion does goes by their time-zone. I am hardly online when they post new news/videos etc. Just hope I can enjoy a lag free game. For one it will not be my pc that will create the lag or my internet connection.

I'm excited about Rift, however, I was not impressed with the screenshots and videos found at the link provided. The graphics are solid but the artwork seemed really uninspired. I've seen some great stuff in other screenshots but this isn't the first time I've seen some shots of Rift and thought, this looks rather bland.

Looks cool. Could have used a different name. Brings back bad memories from Aion. Rift would be wise to stay as far away from that game as possible.
