So the new trend appearing in games today... at least with two of the newer games that aren't out yet, Rift and Guild Wars 2, is dynamic events. Now, I'm all for them. I think this is just what games need now-a-days. Think about it this way. One of the greatest things about the Diablo series, and one of the reasons I kept going back to it year
s after year was that the dungeons were created randomly. That is dynamic in a way.
Rift is taking this a step further and having dynamic rifts open around the world that can and will cause the environment change to reflect these rifts if someone doesn't come along and do something about them.
What I'm worried about is ... are these "fo-dynamic events" or are they real? Do these rifts open at random times in random places around the whole world or are there 100 designated spots that GM's can make open or have them open at randoms times in their code? If they can't appear at every spot in the world, randomly, without a GM telling them to appear, then it's not truly dynamic.
