For all of your people with 5-10 year or older computers keep in mind black friday is coming up this friday. Honestly if you have some money to toss towards it there are going to be some ridiculous sales going on. I know places like newegg are starting their black friday sales this Wednesday. So if you're looking to upgrade your pc thats the time to do it, you could easily build a $1500 pc for not even 1/3 that cost.

Too bad that they don't have Black Friday up here in Canada. I'm sure many of the online retailers will have great sales regardless though. Luckily I'm not in need of an upgrade just yet, perhaps in another year or so.

Same goes for me, I just recently upgraded my video card and harddrive so those are solid for now. I am however getting a 20' flatscreen monitor to replace this junky one I have now.

sigh... how I wish I had money to be able to build a new comp. I am beyond broke and in college so any and all money goes to college and gas for the car. I would love to get a new comp though haha.

You can try to find a gently used PC on Craigslist or parts together one using used parts. Assuming you can find the parts in good condition, you can build a real good PC for real cheap!

I feel your pain though - finances are tough while in school.

Honestly looking at the games and videos shown thus far I'll estimate the requirements around this...

Minimum
1.8 GHz+ multi core (single cores haven't run well for most games lately)
2 gigs of ram
256 mb video

Highest Settings
2.6 GHz+ multi core
4 gigs of ram
516 mb video

Yeah I think it will be higher then that. I wish it wouldn't be though but imagine it will be considering to be able to play max settings in games like aion and stuff like that, what u said for the highest settings wouldn't even get you half way there. I just hope the programming is done correctly so you won't have to have a 5 grand rig to be able to obtain the best graphics in crowded game play and not have any problem in fps. Wish they would put out a demo so u can test it with fps software, like FF14 did...

Haha /agree that game was fail from alpha.. wasted so much time in beta for that game for it to be nothing. But would be nice to get some demos we can download and test even if it's just cgi stuff.

well... the bench mark worked... that was about it basically told you if your system had the ballz to run their crappy movie with the occasional fight in between...

I just dropped 2000 bucks for my new rig, and it's not even close to top of the line, but I needed it just for Rift, GW2 and Tera. Got myself a brand spanking new i7 2.8, 8gb RAM and a Radeon HD5870. Oh, and I got a 24" monitor. Thing is so sweet.

Yeah I just got a new machine also spent about $1,000 and got everything except the 5870 ( mine only has a 5770 :p ) but I did get an LG 24" monitor with that so I am happy. You honestly don't have ot break the bank for a decent system you just have to be less picky about who you buy from *coughcoughDelloutletcoughcough*

Well I got myself this summer a new macbook pro. Mainly for my study but kept in mind I like to play a game, a new MMO. So I got a duo core 2.6 with 4gig ram and a pretty decent geforce. So I should be able to play it.

Only thing that I lack is a good flatscreen. Got a good gaming mouse and keyboard but need a decent flatscreen for gaming. It sucks on a 13" inch screen.

Might buy that on black friday. However seeing I live in the Netherlands still looking for a decent webshop in the USA which ships to the Netherlands and has a nice discount at black friday.

There are very few laptops that actually work well for gaming, even with high end specs. There is just something about a laptop that doesn't work well for it.

black friday is the day after thanksgiving. It does have a historical significance, but like many holiday and days of memory it has been changed and commercialized.
Black friday and the week of thanksgiving are BIG sales days like that day after Christmas
You can find many a deal at most stores anywhere fron 10-90% off items. Most places open at 4 AM or earlier on this day and are usually jam packed with people seeking deals.

Moving soon, so no point in building our new rigs until after that's all done. I suppose buying some of the components now isn't such a bad idea.

But, oh yes... it will be done. Mmmm... top of the line gaming pc...

My laptop recently died. Luckily I had purchased the extended warranty from Best Buy. After a lot of wrangling and a few threats of legal action, the store agreed to replace my 3 year old laptop free of charge with a brand new i7, 6gb, Radeon HD5870. No need to bother with Black Friday now lol. Ready for Rift and anything else that comes along!

Yeah, I wish I had money to spend on Black Friday, but even with good deals, I still don't have money to spend. I would love to replace my slowly dying 3 1/2 year old laptop.

I bought a decent lap-top from tigerdirect. It's just to surf the net on though. If you want a gaming rig there are a few bare-bones kits floating around with pretty good price tags at tiger and newegg.

I wish I had money to spend, but I really don't. I would like to replace this with something in the thousand dollar range when I have that money to spend on it, especially since I know someone who can get me about a 20% discount, depending on which brand I buy.
