I won't play a girl unless I'm forced to by gender restraints. I don't constantly look at my character, just like I don't constantly check myself out. I'm well aware of how both me and my character look. I'm not interested in free stuff, I can get anything I need on my own merits. It is a logical choice for me, I am a male, my avatar is usually an extension of myself, so it would also be male.

lol, I can't say...I'm a RL girl. But I can say my husband plays both male and female avatars, based on how the graphics and aminations of race/class combos look, so it's purely cosmetic for him. I pretty much always play a female avatar, though.

I never have a problem rolling a female character as a guy, because well if I am going to spend such long amounts of time in world staring at the back of a character.. why not a hot female!?

A guy should be a guy. It isnt healthy being attracted to a game charecter and people need to know what *** they are interacting with because it makes a difference in conversation.

They think that whatever genre u make depicts some of ur personnality. In-game genre is far from realising what the other is like unless u get to talk with him and find out more about him/her.

I like variety, usually female toons are my way of making races playable when the males are ugly. Or in WoW's case, the female gnomes are too **** cool to pass up.

I have little previous mmo experience other than wow so I guess Im the typical player that highly dislikes the male model of Draenei.

I understand that most people would roll a female character for the look, or to trick people into thinking that they are a female, right? Now if either is OK is for you to determine ;)

I play dependent on my mental image of that character. So, sadly, that means rogues and priests usually end up being females while tanks and mages are males. Dunno why that is.

Probably not, at least for my first character. But we'll see what the character models look like. The females don't look like they'll be all T/A (unlike certain Korean MMOs) so we will see.

Okay I do not know why every says the only reasons for males rolling a female is because they are pervert or want to get free stuff. Sure there are those people out there but not all of the males are.
I role female when the class is gender locked or it just looks better.
A lot developers tend to make the armors for the females look better than the ones for males.

I may want to role a female assassin to be the bad *** character, over the male assassin.
I have a slight roleplay aspect to developing my characters but usually not in the game

Definetly NOT. As a rolegame, If I am a male, I like to create male chars :)

P.S: But I also know some people who loves doing female chars and ask for money to high leveled male chars -..- Which, btw, is so pathetic imo xD

i used to despise people who did it. but honestly ive had a change of heart. i like paying female characters...

for some reason, no games make them at all weaker or less intelligent... so other than having a smaller hitbox theres no downside.. plus they usually have some erotic thong on

I mostly play female characters as well. The styling of the armor is always better, plus watching a chick wrecking shop is like a train wreck, but in a good way, you just can't look away. Played dark female tanks in almost every game since I started in 2001 in Eq as a SK, however, this time, I plan to roll and Eth VK/R/P as a balance of dark and light, and because I like the story behind the Eth a lot.I might roll as a girl if they can be slightly attractive, but if we are talking EQ1 Troll women, no thanks lol.

Also female gamer who plays female characters. I've learned to build up an immunity toward the creepy gamer guys who ask for cyb0rz and "are you really a girl?!" questions all the time.

Short answer is Yes, I will play as a female character. However, my main is always a male, and I tend to create females based on the class and or idea I have for the character. I usually get a picture in my head of what I want to create and sometimes, it turns out to be a female. Just the way it is.

I am a female that has played 50/50 on male and female characters. I agree with some of the other posts that sometimes, the gender of the char just fits better with the class. However, my motives on choosing a *** are much simpler - who gets the sexiest mohawk?

I play both indiscriminately. I always choose based more on the character type. For example I don't like playing male healers, so those are female. At the same time, I don't like playing female mages. So it all depends on how I picture the character in my mind. Also, I really don't like playing a character that looks like a dump truck, so I already know I will never be able to play a Bahmi male.

For the record, I know lots of females that almost exclusively play male characters, due to how people act towards females once they find out they are women in RL. And I will agree with some of the posts, oftentimes females get much better art and animation than their male counterparts.

One more thing... I think attaching any kind of stigma to a person due to the gender of their character is what is really childish and dumb though. Its the internet, have fun.

Well, I am a girl, but I usually play female characters. The only time I typically play a male character is when there is a game that makes a class gender specific and I feel I just have to play that class. For me, it's almost entertaining to see what people do when they find out I'm a female irl. Most don't care. Some guys end up hitting on me, though the majority will drop it when I tell them I'm taken. Others are shocked that I'm a girl because they assume that girls don't play games. That reaction always makes me laugh.
