I know the reason a lot of games look and feel like WoW is because if it isn't broken don't fix it, but I can't help to feel that Rift is going to resemble Rift quite a bit. I know you switch your Souls whenever you want, but that doesn't mean it's any different from WoW. Besides dynamic rifts, can people explain to me how this is not a WoW clone?

Simply put, since I don't feel like explaining it again on this forum, they took WoW and made it better. Much better.

I understand what your getting at, but then WoW took ideas from other older MMOs. So newer games taking aspects of WoW not that of deal or shock.

An ever-changing world, in depth character creation, new pve experiences. I don't know what to say really, but to be hopeful because I think we all need a change from WoW, or at least give WoW some serious competition.

I am not interested in new/old game things tbh. What I am concerned about is gameplay and its value. Old concept is not bad if done correctly.

Even if the game is WoW-like if it's the good parts of WoW and even the good parts of other MMOs and they are married well I will be happy. I want something new to me not necessarily new to the world. There is some comfort to a feel of familiarity with a new game without having to go oh look a WoW clone >.<

Ultima-> Eq -> Wow -> Rift? time will tell, tbqh even if rift is not THE wow killer (personally I think WoW is the WoW killer) I think its going to have a very large and loyal following. With all the choices and dynamic world events I just don't see people burning out on it as fast as other mmos.

I agree withyou that WoW will ultimately be what kills WoW :p they fell into the trap of trying to please everyone and failed at pleasing most of them. I know a lot of players that only play still because of the time they have invested in their characters o.O

The devs stated that its not going to be ultimately different than WoW, but rather, they wish to build upon what they perceived World of Warcraft did right, and its not just limited to WoW but also elements of EQ. World of Warcraft was great at its launch, I think the issue people more or less tend to have with WoW is the direction it went post launch. At the end of the day, Trion will try to appeal to all play styles in order to really reach that wider target audience.

Quite honestly, I'm hoping Rift doesn't stray too far away from the WoW formula. The WoW formula is great, it works, if you are bored with WoW, well that happens, I can't think of too many things that I can keep doing for too long without getting bored (women is an obvious exception). Just from looking at Rift it does look like a sort of WoW 2.0, but who knows until you play it?
