Worried About ... Not Getting Into BetaFollow

Just wanted to post and say how bummed I would be if I didn't get into the beta. I just looked at my account and noticed that I've been a member since 04-26-2010. I know there are people that have been waiting a lot longer than that, and to be honest, I knew about the game for a couple of months before I signed up. But that is a long time to be waiting for a game. I'm sure I will get in one of the beta's, but I would really like a VIP key! :)

I find the allusion in the sentence to be very very frightening >.>

Yeah, it sounds like he/she has done some pretty sketchy stuff for a VIP key.

Not that bad. Only a few late nights and skipping out on some things waiting for a code.

I am not intended to flame anyone or be aggressive but something that have people to keep in mind:

People should be happy that they have a chance to get into the beta, people who did not follow the game until a month ago, still have a chance to enjoy a closed beta. I am not going to complain that I have a chance instead of a guaranteed spot. If I am invited to 1 or 2 weekends and I can test,I am and we should be happy.

I can't say I'm worried about not getting in beta but i would be kinda disappointed if i don't get in. I have been doing the F5 facebook and twitter thing with no luck, tried the caption contests and other sites contests but just no luck so far.

I dont think people need to be worried about getting into beta, rather its more of an issue of "when" they will get the opportunity. From what I know, there will be massive beta invites towards the end of the beta process. This will happen in order to reinforce their launch subscriber base.

I want a VIP beta key but I'm not exactly worried about it. There are other things to do with your time you know.

My friend said that she did not need this vip key because she was not interested in playing with bugs and errors

but I would be happy to help debug this game

Just sad to see numerous of keys being sold on auction sites all around the web.

Yeah, I mean think about it who is going to pay $40 for 9 days of closed beta total, with wipes happening each time and a guaranteed buggy/laggy experience at some point.

Ofcourse I am, as any1 else, hoping to get my hands on a VIP key, but even if I only get accepted to play in just 1 of the beta events I would be super happy.

We should just all be happy about even getting a chance to get into the closed beta.
Being able to play in just 1 event is better than none so fingers crossed and just hope ;-D

Don't stress too much about it. The best time to play a game is when it's all polished up after release :) Besides, I'm sure there will be plenty of coverage during the beta events so you'll at least know what's going on.

Fortunately the worrying part of my brain is broken. I would love to get into beta. I enjoy testing, in all my programming classes I was the debugger of the group. I somehow found a way to break things and then I would figure out how to fix them. So I will be happy to be in beta, but I won't be devastated not to be in beta.

Wow... I hope length of membership doesn't have much to do with being chosen. I just recently found out about RIFT and I'm easily just as excited about it as everyone else! For now, I guess I just pray to the gods and hope they see fit to choose me!

Too many commets (here and other places) about waiting till it has been out and polished...

It really makes me wonder, how many of these people getting the VIP keys really understand what a beta is really for.

Personally I would love to get a key, so I could actaully TEST different parts of the game, and to offer feedback about what works... and what doesn't

Now and days people only use betas to play the game and will more than likely complain everytime they are affected by a bug or die because of a server lag spike. Rather than reporting it and helping fix the game they'll call the game stupid and buggy and uninstall or something along those lines.

Yeah plane and simple its just a preview/stress test. Thankfully Trion knows that lol and from what ive heard have done super extensive alpha, i dont expect many bugs, but hey if I do get stuck in a bridge and die /report and roll on my friends.

I just recently heard about the game myself. Actually, it was through Curse that I heard about it, but yeah, ever since then I have taken great interest in the game. But yeah, after seeing the round 1 picks and not being on them, I am getting a bit worried. I'm attempting to avoid the whole spam haphazard thing, and trying to keep myself from clicking every thread on the forum and sharing an opinion. Though, after doing some research, I've noticed quite a few people who were picked in Round 1 did just that.

Are there going to be VIP keys for those who actually share useful opinions? Or is it gonna be a, "k he has 100+ posts, he's in!" fight to the death? I've only seen a few names on that list that actually had anything useful to say...

Oddly enough since I stopped playing Aion I've been aching for a decent MMO release that I can tear into the same way as Aion hopefully Rift will be somewhat more tender if you catch my meaning...

I would love to get into Beta and try to help shape the game for the better. I have been in a few betas and it is always nice being able to see the subtle ways in which you help shape things for the better. That being said I will only be mildly disappointed if I don't get a VIP key. It is a game and I know that I will play it when it is released either way.

But back to the OP, what is there to be worried about by not getting into beta. It isn't something that will drastically change your life to one degree or another.

Best of luck to any who get into beta and help make it a better game.

ugh sorry browser went janky... meant to say

I remember Alpha testing FFXIV and the first night was basically (if you can log in great, if you stay on for more than 10 minutes your **** lucky) too bad the bugs in that game ended up being the final retail version and what we thought was a game was lost in limbo somewhere

Beta is for testing bugs... not for having a good time or enjoying yourself. If you care about Rift you will help it enjoy a successful launch by properly testing and trying to break the game.

I'd rather get into Alpha, but I dunno how many more of us they will be inviting for that. I'd feel more useful/helpful in Alpha.

Yeah, I guess I should have used a different title for this thread. I'm not worried exactly. My life will go on and I will still have plenty of things to do that don't involve gaming. But with this being one of the games I've been looking forward to for quite a while... the other two being Tera and GW2, I would be really bummed.

I'm not sure what is more sad, the people selling the VIP beta keys or the people buying them.
