Thera are some helpful link about the Rift :

http://riftirc.com/ - chat with developers.
http://www.riftrolebuilder.com/ - role builder.
http://www.riftpodcast.com/ - podcast

summary :

Housing
-No player structures included at launch. No guild halls or player housing. However...it is in on the discussion boards. They are trying to implement a new system that is unique to Rift and does not take players out of the cities. Will be included in expansions.

Harvesting
-Many objects can be harvested in game including some unique materials from Raid targets
-Not all types of materials will be available to trade or sell
-Mention of a separate harvesting satchel
-Harvesting Equipment/Gear? unknown
-Unlockable achievements for harvesting

Crafting
-There will be nine crafting Professions. Not all will be available at release.
-Some crafting professions have to be found through discovering a "crafting soul"
-Crafting will be experimental. There is not one vanilla default type for every recipe. Combination and augmentations are meant to be tested by the player.
-Some gear will be character customizable (color, stats, etc.)
-The first few tiers of gear will be identical to both Factions, however higher tier gear will start differentiating on appearance and stats
-There will be unique sets found in the world, Rifts, and specific to certain races
-Crafting will contain quests
-Crafting Bag/Tools? Unknown
-There will be an apothecary profession and potion making in the game
-Crafters will depend on each other to create certain items
-There will be ammo in the game made by crafters
-There are mount crafted items
-Crafting Achievement System
-Crafting and Adventuring level are seperate and may be done individual. Crafting quests do not have to be completed to level, but are extremely beneficial.
-Some recipes most be discovered through experimentation or found in the world
-A crafter can level all the way up to the top, but may not possess all of the recipes if they have not spent time improving their recipe book by experimenting and completing quests...or learning from their master NPC's. A level 50 crafter with 10 recipes will be useless

Grouping
-There will be a LFG window
-5 man groups
-Quests are shareable
-The usual group loot options

Guilds
-Guilds must progress their guild level!!! There will be guild quests and achievements in Rift. These quests will be difficult tasks requiring several to participate. They will include all professions and even PVP and Raids. With each progression in the guild level...certain "benefits" will be unlocked. Raid summon ability anyone?
-Guilds will have a universal bank
-Guild chat and officer channel
-Guild ranks with permissions
-Guild Protection!!! This is two parts. Every account will have an online record accessible by anyone at the Rift website. There, you can check out an individuals account history including alts, previous guilds, GM reprimands, and any grievances filed against that player. Secondly...and this is the juicy part. Gear earned in any Raid event by a new guild initiate will be soulbound to his/her guild until a certain period has expired. So, someone joins the guild...gets good raid gear.../guildquits...*poof* the gear goes back to the guild.
-Customizable guild tags

PvP
-Exp gained from PvP
-PvP Achievement System
-PvP will be a part of guild progression
-PvP will be flagged for some dungeons, rifts, raids
-Faction differences will cause NPC hostility
-Bounty or "wanted" markers are in the works
-Loot acquired from PvP will not include the actual players gear
-/dual is integrated as well as arenas
-Group PvP
-Raid PvP

UI
-UI is completely customizable. They do not plan to allow mods
-Ability boxes, menu keys, minimap, etc can be sized as you like. Extra ability slots/columns can be added easily
-Macro's allowed. Over 50 lines of text
-G15 compatible
-Minimap is like another map everyone knows really well that will boogle your mind
-Map shows real time events > quests, moving rifts, group/guild members, friends? unknown

Bump.
I like many of the listed features, group and guild quests especially.
I know of a few crafters that will like some of those features as well

Thanks for the post :) It answered a lot of questions that I was curious about.

Also curious if their will be ample amount of bag space or bank space? Any one know? I hate more than anything when playing and running out of room because I tend to horde crap forever and ever. :D

And the other concern/question I had would be their mailing system. One thing I do not like about Aion is they only allow one attachment to game mail. I often send my alternate characters items like if I'm on my Cleric - I'll send bows or loot I pick up. So curious how RIFT will handle their mail system, if mail has a time limit and so forth. :D

Inquiring minds want to know.

Found this one interesting:

Now THAT is the kind of post you make your only one. Great list and quite a few things I'm glad to learn. Perfect thread for the New Player Questions section.

Wow that Is amazingggggg, Raiding guilds are gonna love that.

Hopefully it doesnt get abused somehow from guild leaders tho.

What happens if the person is removed?

And anyone know if their will be any good loot CONTESTED raid / group exp mobs, because just doing instances sometimes sucks.

Thank you very much man! You must have spent quite a time finding all this information, you've saved us this time, and i got excited about those features you told. I've never even thought about this "guild protection" (genius) idea. Looks like Trion means business :P (RIFT is the first Trion's game I heard of)

Again: good job, i appreciated !
