What do you guys think rewards should be for pvp success? Simply the rush of destroying enemies? Mabey some sort of Wow like honor system? Should it involve gear rewards or just cosmetic rank stuff?

ooh i would think rank, or even honor, i wouldnt want special skills cause people will take advantage and use their other 4 accounts to boost their main.

unless of course you could only get X amount of points for killing 1 person

I like the rank system for rewards. That system would seem pretty good. I would also like to see a shot in the dark, drops off pvp kills. Not often but rare drops.

yeah i agree this is a must. Having an exploitable pvp system makes everything soooo lame.

Yea because you don't only have AFKer's you also have bots that can be killed. If you have an exploitable system they will be camped more then named mobs and rifts.

there has to be some sort of honor system that will allow u to get some rewards. Just the kill's aren't enough for most people.

Maybe the kills alone would be enough if there was some bigger reason for fighting other than honor. Such as a common objective and whichever team wins gets raid level drops from whatever.

This is quoted from a Podcast.

"Rift has no planes it is already implemented, not only that but Rift also has them attached to players in PvP. So yea its kinda cool, you can actually get ultra rare drops from just playing PvP and killing players. Not only that but you get different types of items depending on what race and what faction your killing."

PvP Loot table is sweet. Hopefully it doesn't get exploited. The last few games I've been in have had massive exploitation. People lining up and farming honor/kills from each other and bots to no end.

Would be nice if people had an honor bank that fills up from the last time they've been killed. Start them at 1 point and then add a point every six minutes up to their rank maximum.

The top 50 players could then have some indicator that they are a prime target. Prime targets would have to spend time in contested areas or their own honor level would begin to decay even to the point of loss of rank.

Carebears would never PvP enough to get rank to accumulate top 50 status but if they somehow managed to do it and tried to hide in safe zones it would decay and someone else would get it. Those in the top 50 could then have access to certain buffs or bonuses but while they are using the buffs and bonuses they would give double honor.

This is a slippery slope for a game company. Adding the right rewards will definately draw more people to the PvP aspect of the game but you also have to make sure the rewards aren't to much or can be exploited.

In EQ2 they had a fame system and while it was good in theory it hurt PvP more than it did help. People become so obsessed with their titles they would often avoid any fight that wasn't heavily stacked in their favor where they might loose their title. They also found ways to exploit the system and many times you had people paying other people in game coin to loose a fight so they could get the "fame" needed to help increase their title. Eventually it made titles a joke.

I come from the school of enjoying PvP just for the sake of PvP. I don't need special gear in order to motivate me to PvP, I don't need titles or anything else. I enjoy it because it adds a needed break from PvE as well as a sense of danger while I'm out questing (in the case of open PvP worlds). I feel when you start adding things in PvP that can be exploited you tend to draw a more immature crowd of players and thats when you have people who only care about x or y and usually get enjoyment out of ruining the gameplay of others as is the case of twinks and open range pvp zones.

Honestly, from playing WoW for a couple years this is what I think of PvP-

I liked it the old way it was where you didn't need specific gear with special stats, you could just go into a battleground and be fairly on par with people of equal level to you. After Blizzard implemented the creation of a specific PvP stat (Resilience) it pretty much became a moot point for me. I really loved PvP, but I didn't have the time it took to do both PvE raids and long (usually loosing) battlegrounds to grind honor points for the gear I needed to be competitive. The result was that I was forced to choose between two things I loved doing, and after not doing PvP for a while, found it VERY hard to get back into with no PvP specific gear.

I was highly disappointed with their choice, and I hope that Trion will take that experience to heart and find a way to make both PvE and PvP implementation somewhat equal and decently accessible.
