Personal Player PetsFollow

Pets have been a growing commodity in MMOs. Some are even based solely on your pets for progression. Would you like to see personal pets in Rift? Maybe received through rare PvE and PvP drops, or various achievements.

If Yes, is there a specific or unique pet you would like to possess?

Oh moelester..... pets can be a good thing :) Don't be so hard :) You probably wouldn't want to see a little fluffy kitten or bunny running around behind a huge tank type, if pets gave off special abilities to their masters, they could be beneficial. Like added regeneration of hp and mana, adding hp to yourself, shielding you from elemental attacks, etc... As for how to obtain them, maybe pets for looks with no abilities, like through achievements, but the ones that are rare drop, have the abilities, which would make them highly sought after.

The one thing with cosmetic pets is it really makes pet classes (in this game i think what hunters and elementalists?) seem lame. Oh whats up stupid caster nice pet, im a tank and I have one too, suck it nerd. No bueno =(. and personally I would love to have a bunny run around with me but I just think the dev team has more to worry about than bunnys and kittys.

I agree with the above poster. If you add cosmetic pets the pet classes (of which there seem to be a few) will then be walking around with a little army of bunnies, wolves, dogs, donkeys, monkeys, pandas, elementals, even their own grandma. Makes it a little lame imho.

Maybe if you put a temporary thing on the pets. Wouldn't have to be anything permanent.

Not sure what the relevance of that is, but I'm referring to trinket pets (i.e., WoW pets from Trading Cards, Limited Time Offers, Achievements, etc...)

They really don't serve a purpose, other than to show off or having a friendly companion while grinding.

If the pets were non targetable, did not obstruct looting/harvesting/game enviroment then I have no real problem with pets other then the possible performance hit by having too many moving objects being rendered on the screen at the same time. Perhaps if the pet was only visible to the player activating the pet and/or just the group that player in at the moment.

I would love to have cosmetic pets. Loved having a black tabby cat on my Mage, and my pyromancer will certainly have a flame retardant pet with him if they are in the game. The other pets which I would consider guardians, like the Trinkets from Timbermaw or Netherwing that actually do damage would also be fine with me.

It would be nice if they actually had pets that had some use. Like a bird of some sort that could give you a scouting view for like 30 secs once a day, or a scorpion pet that could poison your blade once every couple of hours.

I personally have always hated the idea of pets. I have no reason to give. I think they are just stupid. I come from a D&D background, so the only class that should get a pet of some kind is a mage with familiars.

Hm. Yes. While fluff pets may be fun and all (and as a RPer sometimes they are) I would rather they not be the following kind. Maybe if they give us housing, you can keep your zoo there.

I would rather they allow a couple of follower pets for the classes they make sense for should the lore support it.

Yeah pets in a stationary area would be fine but I agree followers are no good.

If going to go with houses and pets just make it so the pets have to stay in the users house.
