I actually have high hopes for this game, i expect it to exceed expectations. The gameplay looks very smooth, graphics are great, they have the right ideas going for them, im sure all will turn out well.

If not, theres always Guild Wars 2 :D

I expect Rift to fit somewhere between EQ Live and least that is what I hope.
Looking at the movies and screenshots, it seems graphically between EQ2 and WoW. It has the models of EQ2 and VG, but the enviroment of WoW.
I expect Rift to pull more players from EQ2 and VG rather than WoW due to the difficulty. I don't think there will be a huge number of subscribers. Enough to be very successful, but not close to WoW's numbers..which is fine by me.

I would expect (hope) that Rift be challenging to some degree. I do not want to be handed "epic" gear for minimal effort. I am by no means a hardcore gamer, I just simply do not have the time. However, I can dedicate 3-6 hours a night, and I would like a game that makes me work for what I get. I like the sense of reward and accomplishment when I get a nice piece of loot from a tough fight or a long quest line. <Holds hands together> Please Rift, make me work for food :)

I am hoping it will actually make me want to pay to play it monthly so far no game has truly done this for me.
Hikaru Najumi - Paragon Reaver ?

Sider Kilans - Archon Warlock ?

Jarion Evarmir - Warlock Necro ?

Honestly i hope for the best but what i expect from Rift is a fun well put together game that my friends and myself can enjoy playing. I don't expect the most perfect bug free game at launch but i expect a dev team that works hard for its community and takes pride in what they are doing and what they are putting out. So overall i expect Rift to be a good game and i think from what i have read and seen so far i'm not expecting too much.

The most important for me:
I hope to see a polite community like in EQ

Rift certainly set itself a high standard, which I'm sure it will achieve and more. There are plenty of ways to customize your character/characters, and that is always a plus. The story looks pretty original, so there's bound to be some surprises and twists along the way.
There's definitely going to be guilds, because come on, have you ever seen an MMO without them? And the combat looks pretty good. I'm sure Rift will rank right up there with EQ and VG, at least.

I hope for a challenging and vibrant world with a helpful and mature community. I hope to be entertained by an MMO once again. I hope the game will offer different kinds of engaging content. I hope there will be some epic raids. They've talked about all of the above, so far so good.

I don't have much in the way of expectations from rift. Alot of the information about it has disappointed me, but I'm looking forward to seeing the Rift mechanic and see how the soul trees work in greater detail. Hopefully there will be enough open world interaction to make me feel like I'm in a virtual world again.

1) High end PvP.
2) Difficult raids with adequate rewards.
3) A crafting system that matters at max level.
4) More reasonable access to beta, (I understand the need for marketing, but what make me even want to pre-order the game if i dont get beta access?)
5) A well developed trade system that makes the crafting classes more in demand and a developed market.
6) Ample Moderator/GM support for in game needs.

I feel if they cant meet these requirements people will probably end up just picking up the next expansion of WoW, and leaving this game in the dust.
