LOL. Necro.

Really, I think the Rift system can be implemented a lot of different ways.

The way GW2 is set up, it seems really, really casual, and in a lot of ways a lot like GW1, just with public quests.

Now I will still play GW2 when it comes out, but I think Rift is a lot more (or can be a lot more) versatile than it currently is.

Oh heh, I didn't even notice. It is interesting though, to read reviews of a game after you've played the game. I think this review doesn't do Rift much justice concerning the traditional elements. They're done about as good as you can, and might overplay the rifts element. Its fun, it's neat to join up with people and go Riftwacking, but it can get a bit old when you just want to go immerse yourself in the story and suddenly its either a zonewide invasion preventing you from questing or your quest hub just got sacked by a foothold.

I really have no interest in trying to validate my choice by trying to convince other that my predilection is better than their predilection. I just don't see the point in console/game wars, other than selling magazines.

Personally, I've been looking forward to GW2 for much longer than Rift (I knew about it but didn't really excite me), and I will clearly be buying GW2. As far as GW2 trying to have a different structure from general MMO's, I'm all for it!

Rift was a surprise for me though, it's pretty good. I love the class system. The rifts are a cool thing, but I think it might get old later on... time will tell.

For a game that just released, its got a pretty good amount of content, although when comparing to WoW for exemple (WoW is a good baseline in MMO's, whatever are your thoughs about it), which got several starting zones, it's a bit restrictive.
I'm playing Defiant, and I think Freemarch is way too big. Past level 14 I was starting to want to see more, and you can't really go quest anywhere else (as far as I know).

Anyway, let's give it time, it's barely a week since the game is out and I can't wait for content updates.

Reading each "category", I felt Rift had the edge to be honest. There is a lot of personal preference involved, and I just don't see GW2 competing on the aspects I'm looking for. From the trailers I've seen, it looks interesting, just not interesting enough for me :D

He says in that article and I agree with tons of points. This gets under my skin.

NCSoft > Trion which is probably the most un true statement in the history of MMO's. NOW
to be fair NCSoft is only supposed to be the money backer and not directly involved I fear
they will ***** it up somehow from my experience with them.

Also guys GW2 is not F2P. It is B2P. That means you pay for content. It is a strange model
for a major MMO and IMHO I think will back fire.

The idea behind the leveling through dynamic events I LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Hope to god this
catches on in MMO's.
