What soul/class you will choose?

Please vote your soul, and tell us what class you will be in Rift, and optionally you can tell us why :)

I'm still trying to decide. I will probably have a couple different characters to satisfy my indecisiveness. I enjoy mages and clerics most, but I do like some of the rouge capabilities. Warrior type never really appealed to me.
As far as race though, I love the high elves. Dwarves never appealed to me, and the other Guardian race just looks ugly. I may look into the Defiant just because aside from the High Elves, the Defiant look better in my opinion.

Aelwyn - Bahmi Cleric - Purifier, Sentinel

Cleric first, then fighter, then mage, then maybe scout. ;)

Honestly I am looking at mage as primary with a archon, warlock, stormcaller, subject to change when last class is released.

Warrior - paragon, reaver, third to be decided when last class is revealed if third is going to be used.
Hikaru Najumi - Paragon Reaver ?

Sider Kilans - Archon Warlock ?

Jarion Evarmir - Warlock Necro ?

I like pet based classes but at this time I like the Warlock. I can change in the future depends of how cool are the pet based classes.

I agree I'll probably have a couple of classes, though the mages and clerics are the two that appeal to me the most.

I'd really like to check out the customization, it's the main reason I'll play rift. HArd to find a game that will let you customize so much with abilities with so many different options. A really good chance to stand out from the rest and personalize your playstyle. Drool.

There are huge advantages/benefits to cleric class.

There are huge advantages/benefits to rogue class.

There are huge advantages/benefits to mage class.

But I just love the style of play of a warrior melee class. Straight forward in-your-face damage. I don't like the feel of being at range; I prefer up-close, flesh on flesh blood splatter. From past mmo experience, my damage output probably won't be as high as other classes, but I am opting to play the class that I enjoy, which is and will be Warrior-Champion, Sub Reaver-Warlord. That will be my main spec. I think you have the option of 4 total specs. No plans for a tank, just dps mode. I hope future raiders will look kindly on my choice.

That said, you should play the style you enjoy.

So yea, why does everyone play what they play? I enjoy these kinds of threads; are very interesting.

I think I've decided to go the path of the warrior. In other games I always play a cleric/mage, however in Rift I'm thinking I'm gonna go warrior to push deep into the warlord tree. Here to hoping I'm the only pure WL on my server. Although I'll have to wait till i get into the beta(crosses fingers) to make my final decision.

I will try other a rogue or a warlock. Warlock seems to rock as a DPSer looking at skills.

I will definitely be playing a healer class: probably either inquisitor/sentinel or sentinel/warden. Who knows, maybe I will do both. ;p I usually play a healer in games so why should this one be any different?

It's hard to decide but I always end making a healer and so far leaning towards Sentinel. Then I'll have a damage/dps class but undecided because there are so many good classes.
Currently Playing: Aion - (Kera - Cleric, Rains - Ranger and Calysta - Chanter on Zikel)

Previous MMO's: WOW (Previous Hardcore Raider and PvPer), Warhammer (DOK and WE), Guild Wars, LOTR, AOC and EQ.

Other PC Games: Dragon Origins, Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, Borderlands

I've heard there is a bard, and I think it is tied to the Rogue option. If so, that is likely where I will go; otherwise, I may try to play a Cleric or a Mage.

finding a main toon is going to be tough with so many ways to spec.
1st one out of the gate will be a Pyro /Dominator unless i get into beta 2 and find the tank class to be just awesome.

I think i'd start on a tank 1st but i'm not too sure how since i'm now hearing that cleric...or was that mages.. have some tank abilities.

I heard the Cleric had some interesting Tank possibilities pretty sure the mage is still pretty squishy
though a pet class using the pet to tank would be cool
back in DAOC they Hibernian Enchanter pet with the full spec damage shield was a great power leveling tank.

I will more than likely end up being a rogue class like I most always do when first starting to play new game. Played a Bladedancer / Ranger this last test and had great fun.

I started off on Rogue, then jumped callings around lv 6 and never went back. I think I was a lil annoyed by things but i'd probably give it another go.

i pretty much always play a heavy armour-wearing greatsword-swinging warrior of some sort. right now, guardian looks most appropriate to that =3
#37 Dec 15 2010 at 9:37 AM Rating: Decent
As of right now I am thinking Rogue with Ranger/Assassin callings.... though the Chloromancer sounds pretty awesome as well. :)
#38 Dec 15 2010 at 9:38 AM Rating: Decent
I fully intend to go mage calling all the way.
The variety of soul combination, and the availability of multiple soul sets is very exciting to me.
As of right now I'm thinking I want a solo leveling class with something like warlock/cc/minor elementalist. When I start to get higher in level I'm thinking that an elementalist/chloromancer build would be amazing for farming purposes. Of course when I reach the high end I can't see myself playing anything other than a Pyromancer.

I know I want to play a cleric, and I'd like some decent solo capability, so I'll focus on Justicar/Inquisitor, probably. Healing comrades while purging foes with holy fire appeals to me for some reason.

I'm thinking I'm gonna go with a rogue first and then maybe a cleric. Perhaps a Riftstalker,Bladedancer, or Assassin. For cleric, I usually do straight up healers, but the shaman looks really cool.

i usually enjoy melee dps with heavy armor but i dont think i can resist the rogue classes in this game with this kind of flexibility. hunter, assassin, nightblade, blade dancer...they all sound like wayyyy to much fun to pass up

I was a cleric in Aion and ended up being a healing mage in the end... This time around, I think I will just go with a mage from the start.

I value versatility over damage honestly, so I want to be a mage but if I can be a debuffing, CCing, class with decent dmg that can counter anything that's thrown at them, why not, right?

The big question is will I be able to reign in my alt-itis enough to stay focused on a single character for the entire weekend or am I going to go on a char-creation spree and end up with 4+ characters by the end of the weekend?

I'm definitely going to start with a Dwarven Paladin, but part of me just really wants to try all the different callings and classes. Unfortunately I know that with a time limit of 1 weekend there is no way to try every class to any reasonable level... (Especially since I have non-Rift plans I can't break for part of the weekend :P)

I have always been a fan of Warriors.
It looks like Champion, Reaver, Warlord atm.

I always have trouble balancing characters so I will have to do some research when the game actually comes out.
