With all the dynamic content in this game, do you think that GM events would fit in? Have you been a part of any GM run events in other games you've played? Share them here!

I have not been a part of any GM events, but I have seen footage of them. However, with the rifts being dynamic, I'm not sure they would necessarily fit in. From my understanding, GM events are "invasions" and the like. So it would just be some of the same, that is, unless they can come up with something totally out of the box. But that is what is going to make Rift so unique, people look fowad to these occurances, rare as they are, now they will be guaranteed!!!

There is always room for GM events.

I've actually been involved in player run events that have had huge GM support in EQ2(Festival of Unity/Discord for those wondering). Done correctly, they can be a lot of fun, and usually lock up zones. I've found as long as people are willing to organize them, its actually really easy to get dev and GM support for just about anything.

While rifts will be a similar pull, I think there is tons of room for GM events. I'm hoping for faction based events, as well as world events that GMs help organize. While EQ2 is entering a phase of horrible management and heading in a direction I think will ultimately result in its demise, the devs and GMs really have done(and continue to do) amazing things for the community. Hopefully that continues in Rift.

I loved the player run events on AB! And the fact that the GM's fully support it, help set up for it and give the players the resources they need to make it fun just adds to the epicness of them.

I also enjoy partaking in the uncommon player guide events that are on EQ2. I really hope Rift has something similar going for it. I really do think it will add to the immersion and dynamic of the game world.

I remeber in EQ1 in StormHamer Legends server was so fun the GM events, three every day if I remember well, that was the reason that I played on that servers for some time. I hope we can see that feature on Rift.

I agree, a good GM event really helps the community and its generally just fun for those involved. I really hope Rift has a good number of them.

I was in some GM events in Eq1 and Eq2 too and yes normally were fun moments that i never forget, in my opinio is very important that servers have competent Gms that make this events, that make the game seems to be more alive and healthy, i hope that Rift bring that sense again since i believe the dynamic system of the world isnt incompatible with that events.

I was in Atlantica for some of the GM events they had quiz events in a special admin chat room in the game. They were pretty fun is you knew enough about the game to compete.

GM events in EQ were awesome!! I really hope Trion are able to incorporate those in Rift on a regular basis. Even the "marriage" ceremonies were cool..with the cake and fireworks..lol..good times!! Sometimes GM's would ***** with us so much..we would get pretty ****** until we figured out a GM was messing with us. =-) Really missed that in EQ2.

i absolutely love GM Events and i hope there will be some of them in this game , altho i dont hope there will be any GM events that will be obstructing normal play.. i was once part of a GM event in dark age of camelot where out of teh blue GM Kemor spawned a gigantic monster in the middle of a noob town.. there was 100s of people hitting it and it took several hours to beat it down .. but down it went and it was just an awsome dynamic to the game that just encourages you to keep going .

Sometimes GM events are rly something out of the ordinary !! Been in 2 as i remember correct, one in WoW when i was low lvl and they summoned a raid boss inside Orgrimmar and the other time was when i played Allods and 2 GMs appeared in central city and they spawned outside of it a horde of zombies !!

Towards the end of the WoW Cataclysm beta, they had a Player vs. Developer all out battlground going. That was a ton of fun. The GM's weren't allowed to use their cheat sheets, so they had to play against players who used to fighting in these battlegrounds all the time. It was utter chaos and a ton of fun on both sides, ultimately though the players won and the GM's used their cheats to have some fun with them before it was over.

EQ had some fun GM events for sure. Botb's (battle of the best) were super fun, thats when everyone from 1 class duels to see who is the best X on the server. The wars that EQ did later on that took place on kunark were really cool to see, although sounds like rift will be doing that all the time =). Best event I ever saw was the famous Rivervale halfling jump. Make a lvl 1 halfling, climb up the cliff... jump to your death. lol the lines were all through RV if i remember right.

I was in GM events in WWIIOL, AC2, DDO, and Vanguard. They are some of the most memorable experiences in those games for me. Somthing about seeing the Devs or GMs running around and doing events really makes you feel like you are part of something bigger than yourself and the daily grind.

I am hoping that Rift will sponsor some GM/Dev run events, perhaps even beyond spawning a rift.

I would love to see GM events, as well as GM sanctioned, player run events. maybe make another thread, for player run events, and if an event seems viable, then GM's could help the players set it up. These events always seem to bring out a lot more people and excitement in the community. So count me in on these type events. ***Also some should be planned so everyone can try to plan on getting in on it and some should just erupt spontaneously.

I play EQ2 and I have rarely ever seen a GM event :( I have however participated in Guide events (which are similar) I generally like the events I do participate in though. Mostly I'm either AFK when they happen or not online. :(

With how dynamic Rift will be GM events could probably be pretty awesome, will definatly be fun to see what they do. :)
