Every MMO when it releases, has issues at first. Server crashes, lag, glitches, and bugs are a plenty. Usually creating an account and downloading the client are either smooth or ****. Lag is an issue that can be server wide or on a individual basis. Glitches and bugs are a definite. There is no getting around it, these things happen. The account creation process and client download usually gets better after the first 24 hours. Thats when the "must have it now" people are done with that process. The server crashes and lag issues are generally fixed within a short period of time, even though no matter where you live in the world, someone will always complain that they have lag! The glitches and bugs can take a while longer, seeing they usually require a patch or two. In all, we have seen games fail due to these issues. RIFT will be coming out when 2 or 3 other highly anticipated MMO's will be releasing as well. These being TERA and SWTOR. Guild Wars 2 could be in the mix as well. If RIFT has start-up problems, do you see players leaving to play one of the other games, therefore dooming RIFT? Or, does RIFT's unique game mechanics and other concepts keep these players staying, no matter what?
