Will RIFT succumb to start-up problems?Follow

Every MMO when it releases, has issues at first. Server crashes, lag, glitches, and bugs are a plenty. Usually creating an account and downloading the client are either smooth or ****. Lag is an issue that can be server wide or on a individual basis. Glitches and bugs are a definite. There is no getting around it, these things happen. The account creation process and client download usually gets better after the first 24 hours. Thats when the "must have it now" people are done with that process. The server crashes and lag issues are generally fixed within a short period of time, even though no matter where you live in the world, someone will always complain that they have lag! The glitches and bugs can take a while longer, seeing they usually require a patch or two. In all, we have seen games fail due to these issues. RIFT will be coming out when 2 or 3 other highly anticipated MMO's will be releasing as well. These being TERA and SWTOR. Guild Wars 2 could be in the mix as well. If RIFT has start-up problems, do you see players leaving to play one of the other games, therefore dooming RIFT? Or, does RIFT's unique game mechanics and other concepts keep these players staying, no matter what?

I think that's something that time will tell. It's hard to say people will leave the game when the mass population of people who will be playing the game haven't even tried it yet.

IMO Rift wont have any more start up problems than any of the other MMOs that are highly anticipated. The nature of MMOs that have this much hype is that they will have A LOT of people trying them at launch. Unless their servers are super amazing I suspect there will be lag, and login throttling, just like most every other really highly anticipated MMO.

I also think Rift will have the usual start up problems, but they will be quickly attended to. If people are so impatient for a "perfect launch" and a "perfect game", then no game will make them happy to begin with. Anyone that does leave will be back. Rift already has a sizeable following and I don't think any of these people will go anywhere. If everyone shows a bit of patient, it will all clear up and the game will be just fine. The only thing, imo, that could change this, would be if there was little to no response at all in regards to dealing with the problems as they arise. If people are left to swing in the wind...it won't bode well. If things are dealt with a fast as humanly possible, everyone will show their new found loyalty.

A better question: Will Pabsmear keep posting trollish, fear-mongering threads?
