I *love* music. Love love love. The kind I like best is the gritty, hard driving beat of industrial music. I'm talking like Nachtmahr, Aesthetic Perfection and Feindflug, not NIN. Smiley: sly What do you folks listen to?

Kaash this is a bag of worms, these children are going to post about A7x again. That being said it is a toss up between Have Heart, one of the best hardcore bands ever, and Streetlight Manifesto, the most musically talented bunch I've seen in a while.

It really depends for me, you may laugh but when I'm doing digital art related work I usually listen to Bernward Koch (Slow Piano) and as soon as I'm in a game it quickly swaps over to things like Dragonforce and anything Hard that keeps me moving as fast as possible lol.

I've caught myself listening more than once to some hard industrial just pounding on, 3 hours down the road when I'm out of the game I'm like holy crap I gotta slow it down a little haha.
#8 Dec 14 2010 at 1:53 PM Rating: Decent
Honestly I can listen to just about anything as long as it has a good beat to it (well except rap, I just cannot get into that lol). Generally when gaming I like something upbeat and energetic though :)

I have to say my main taste runs to hard rock and heavy metal, I appreciate and like listening to a diverse selection of music. So I've got a wide variety of things on my normal playlist that run from AC/DC and Metalica to Clannad and Enya.

That said, at the moment I'm listening to a lot of Fall Out Boy, Evanesence, My Chemical Romance, Lily Allen and Trans-Siberian Orchestra (good xmas music).

I used to listen to a lot of industrial, just can't do it any more.

I listen to a lot more mellow music these days. I think muse is genious along with Radiohead. I find myself following a lot more indie and smaller bands these days.

I dunno, maybe it comes with living in Seattle. I've become a big fan of local stuff and bands centered from the west coast. Kexp has ruined me, I can't listen to any major radio station any more because they all suck and play crappy music. I hate Clear Channel with a passion.

Yay for 90's grunge hippies... I am one of those too! Although I listen to all types of music because I can relate to most. Ranging from wobbly bass driven facemelting rave **** to the most brutalish metal to the mellowist of the mellow jam types to hardcore rap about selling drugs, they are all in my ballpark. But to make a list in order here goes:

1. Beatles
2. Phish/The Dead (can't decide which is better)
3. String Cheese Incident/Widespread Panic (again, can't decide)
4. Bassnectar (before he blew up)
5. Edan (for those who like underground rap, this guy is fuggin amazing check him out. his lyrics will blow your mind... he has an advanced vocabulary and makes his own beats which are all sick as fuh)

These are just my top 5... i listen to such a vast variety of music it would confuse most people.

AND KASHA..... you don't like NIN??? :S !!!

For me, anything orchestral/symphonic, especially game and movie soundtracks. Ironically enough, that's one of the things that appealed to me about Rift, the fact that they're recording actual instrumental performances for the soundtrack rather than using nothing but synth.

Mind != blown. Maybe if he had a full label behind him and a better mic it would sound better to me, but I guess the lack of those go with the title 'underground.' Dubfx is the only 'underground' mc I actually liked.. his videos are mind-blowing for sure, if you haven't seen them. Cds were ok too, but not great.

Oh and NIN are awful. lulz

some songs sound like sh*t cuz he wants them to sound like that.. he is an odd character. you should see him live. mic in one hand, effect pedal in the other, scratching with his elbow... it is absolutely redic.

My taste in music changes so much it's almost hard to keep track of what I like. At the moment I think I'm in between musical preferences, though, when I do listen to music it's usually pretty chill, not sure how else to describe it. Also, symphonic/power metal is something that tickles my eardrums on occasion.

I'm pretty versatile. Good music is good music.

Metallica and Genesis are equal parts badass.

Alter Bridge and Journey both have a place in my collection.

Hanz Zimmer and John Williams get the same play as Iron Maiden and Styx in my house.

Funny this. I'm OBSESSED with music, and this is the topic that got me to create an account here. You see, my name Aesphyx is inspired by Aesthetic Perfection, and Noisuf-X. I originally wanted to be Aesf-X but since that doesn't work in games, and I thought Aesfx was a little strange, it became Aesphyx.

I've also lately been a lot into dubstep. Anything you like in that genre? I have a feeling we could help each other discover bands, and I'm ALWAYS into finding out new stuff.

Edit: A Drum & Bass fave of mine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKo_1wRLOr0

Cheers!

Bah, I said I've been lately getting into some of it. I do know that it's being overplayed everywhere with tons of hyper commercial "bands" using elements of it. I'm open to many kinds of music, though. There are also Drum & Bass and Breakbeat tracks I love. There are also some metal tracks I love. I'll give anything at least a listen.

I go through phases where I'll delve into a new genre (for me) and give everything a try. I usually tend to stick with my tried and true faves when it comes to gaming/driving music tho!

I'm with ya on the driving/gaming, gotta have a certain beat goin, keep you focused on the grind. But yeah dubstep is just supppppeerrr hyped up where i'm from it could be a totally legit scene wherever you are but it turns people into drones lol drones who can't appreciate any other kind of music, clearly that is not you =)

Nay sir. Over 11,000 MP3's including hour+ long sets... would be **** hard to have that all be one genre. I can pretty much discuss any type.

Driving/MMO grind playlists = the most important for me. So much work goes into pefecting those. I drive long distances fairly often (8 hour+) so, I really lose my mind if I don't have what I want. HATE being a passenger for drives like that.

And no, I'm not a 90 year old woman or a lonely house wife :P I also like Lily Allen, Regina Spektor, Keane (but not the Perfect Symmetry album, that was total crap), Franz Ferdinand, and I also love bands from the 70's like Journey, REO Speedwagon, The Doobie Brothers, Creedence Clearwater Revival, etc.

I like most music honestly, haha
Though I'm especially interested in techno music & classical. Probably gotten the later from my father as he used to play it almost constantly out loud until we bought him headphones, haha.

Chiptunes manage occassionally sneak in with love for me. When it happens I tend to listen to the one that breached my defenses for nearly a whole day, and then never listen to it again. *sad*

If you haven't checked it out yet you might want to take a listen to the new "TRON: Legacy" album. Nice mix of orchestral and electronica with different tracks taking different mixes (i.e., some completely orchestral, others completely electronic, others being fusion of the 2 styles). Vaguely reminiscent of early soundtracks by Danny Elfman (i.e., Batman movie soundtrack).

I like almost all types of music. Since I have teenagers and their tastes vary..I find myself listening to a little bit of everything just to make sure I can stay in touch with their interests. Like alot of folks what I listen to really depends on the mood I am in or the activity I am involved in. Since I have never been exposed to industrial music..you all have peeked my curiousity...guess I need check it out.

The only 2 absolute no way types of music for me are classical and opera...both make my ears drums bleed.
