What is everyone looking forward to with regards to rift? What do you think Rift is going to bring to the table that other MMOs dont. I personally cant wait to see the graphics and the end game and how good it is.

Thoughts, comments, questions, etc....

I'm hoping the features they are advertising are actually good, namely, the dynamic world and the versatile class system. Plus I hope the combat and pvp system is good otherwise the other two things wouldn't matter, even if they were spectacular.

PvP, instances and rift events. I'm very much hoping Rift invasions become zone-wide events, with everyone in the area pitching in and making a difference regardless of level differences.

Personally I am looking for a new experience, and RIFT seems able to provide me with this. Sure it contains a lot from other MMOs, but that's pretty much a given these days. I still think they got lots of good ideas which I'm very interested in witnessing first hand.

The graphic is a plus, bought a new computer just half a year ago in order to play the upcoming games in full detail. So far worth every penny! :)

Currently the world of RIFT is what intrigues me the most, just the overrall dynamic of everything. I'm also hoping that by being a beta player I can find issues and report these so that when the game is fully launched it'll be as little of these as possible. Thus, then I can think of myself as one small step that aided toward it's greatness! :D

I'm personally looking forward to the soul system, I like being able to customize my own class so to speak to fit my play style. Also looking for aq game that at least has some type of challenge to it, sadly the game I play now just seems to continue to get easier and easier with every update.

I think graphically it's beautiful and it scales pretty well. I don't have it maxed out and it still looks pretty **** good. For the Beta1 weekend I pretty much played non-stop, this was helped a little by all the snow outside, but Sunday night especially I played pretty much til the sun came up and only finally stopped because I was going to fall asleep in my chair.

I just want to see an MMO that can keep my attention up to and through the end game. I'm not much into raiding so with a lot of MMOs I just stop playing after awhile when it gets to the point that all I feel I have left to do is raid. I think in the end I'm more into exploration and story and battlegrounds style PVP.

I love the screenshots I've seen.

And honestly I'm excited to even get a chance to try it out.

My brother has been talking it up so much that I've been going all over the place reading everything I can about the game today in anticipation of 'possibly' getting to play.

I'm looking forward to new lore, new dungeons, end-game content including elite versions of older dungeons and seeing what Trion is going to do from an AH and crafting standpoint to build a vibrant economy.

Wait... Is Kaasha implying there are rainbows in Rift? I haven't seen any yet... Are you sure that's not under NDA?

Seriously, you aren't supposed to mention the Rainbow Rift where Rainbow Brite gets medieval on your ***, that's still covered under the NDA!

I always look forward to the same thing in every new game: The skills and the builds. Honestly, PvE interests me the first time I see it or beat it, but PvP is like ongoing battle. Maybe in the future, PvE will evolve like PvP and change strategies depending on the oponents, but changing builds to create a great build for yourself that will let you be on top, and using every skill to your advantage, that's what motivates me in mmorpgs.

It's been mentioned that Rifts could be exploited for PvP....sneak into enemy territory and start opening their rifts and letting them turn into invasions. You could also potentially get a party of stealthy characters and start assassinating people as they fight rift mobs.

From my understanding of the videos though, you can just rift into enemy territory at any point. I don't know if the rift exits are at the same spots or not, but if they are not, it would be pretty awesome, not knowing when or where you might have to fight. World PvP ftw.

Maybe I misunderstood the video, or you, but I don't think that's what the video meant. As I understand it you can't transport into enemy territory through a rift but you can go into enemy territory and open a rift which brings out a bunch of mobs. It only has an indirect effect on PvP (anyone remember mob trains from FFXI?).

Well you can also move in on a rift that your enemies are attacking and then go attack them while they are trying to clear up the rift.

Hold on, re-watching video.

PS: What you said seems to be what the video is saying, however, that makes little sense to me because they say "If PvP is your thing, then open a rift in enemy territory and sit back and watch the carnage".

1) They say PvP, but if you open a rift, you are really just watching enemies PvE and getting yourself killed since people will be massing to the rift and you would be sitting there waiting for 20 ppl to kill you?

2) On the other hand they say sit back and watch the carnage....which means you're not participating? Then it's not really PvP, is it?

3) "Open a rift in enemy territory" not to enemy territory, hinting to what you said, open a rift from which mobs can come through...again not really PvP, despite starting with "If PvP is your thing".

Really curious to know how you get to the enemy territory now...just walking there? Through some rift? Magic?

Well, you can open a rift and take advantage of it, get a bunch of people to go pvp with you and take the people out while they are doing pve. Sounds dirty to me though. Could also be a form of griefing like the mob train I mentioned. Some people in FFXI would get aggro from a bunch of mobs and set them loose on people in a party (at the time mobs would follow you until you zoned and then would walk back to where they came from, attacking anyone in their path) so I imagine something like that can be done in Rift.

And the game has mounts and such, I would assume you get to enemy territory just as you would any other game. There is also some sort of teleporting system.

Dirty is good. All is fair in Rifts and war, after all.

I forgot to mention that in that video they said that rifts occur randomly throughout the world (talking about the PvE raid events). That's why I thought a PvP rift would be different since if you "open" a rift, then it doesn't occur randomly, you open it where you are, right?

That's also why I thought if you want to get to the enemy territory you open a rift from your side and it randomly spawns it on the other side, with maybe a couple guards or whatnot, and when the guards and players get wiped, the rift disappears.

I'm looking forward to the customization of classes, like a lot of people.
I think that this game is going to be amazing, I just hope it doesn't turn into "This combo is the best, so everyone be this"
I hope they make it a equal field for classes

The soulsystem more then anything else. I loved guild wars because there were so many builds out there, and so many ways you can build your class. I always loved making builds, and I can't wait to make builds in Rift.

Personally, I'm just looking for a new world to explore. The end game is probably the thing I want to see the most. I'm also intrigued by the Rift tradeskill system and am looking forward to exploring what it has to offer. During the first 2 Betas I haven't wanted to spend any time with crafting as my main goal was just to level to 20 and play with the rifts, etc. However, from what I've seen in small glimpses, it looks like there will be quite the intricate crafting system in Rift.

Aside from these items, I'm looking forward to the game in general. I know a few people on other threads have complained or more or less said they weren't impressed with the graphics but aside from a short list of bugs I think the game looks pretty amazing.

As for unique game play, MMO, etc., I don't know that I would say RIFT is doing anything extraordinary or revolutionary. I don't mean that in a bad way at all. Honestly, aside from the day when we can all strap on a pair of virtual glasses and it look as though we are truly in the game, I don't see how any MMO can really be that much different by way of groundbreaking newness. I mean traditionally they're all going to have quests, they're all going to be aimed at some sort of levelling or evolution style platform to ultimately reach an ambiguous end game playing field.

Personally, I'm 100% ok with that. I think what it comes down to is finding the game that is right for you. Ultimately you should be happy with enough aspects of the game to want to play it. For me, RIFT meets that criteria and I'm looking forward to it's release. I think Trion has taken a lot of what is out there and have done a great job of improving on many of these areas.
