Ok so I don't know much about this game. And I'm just wondering what's all the hype about this game :) It'd be great if everyone could post their opinion why they are so into this game. I don't know much about it so could everyone tell me about this game?

Here's the official website: http://www.riftgame.com/en/

Go there and read up on the features and class system. Watch the videos where they go more into detail on exactly what the soul system is and what it means.

This game isn't really overhyped which is nice. It has a lot of new innovative ideas though.

The soul system and the integration of rifts in game are just a couple.

I'm really hyped up for the game. Heard about it from a coworker, and can't wait to play it with him. Unfortunately, besides my coworker and the website, there doesn't seem to be much info/hype about it. Everyone else I've talked to hasn't even heard of it. Fortunately, some of the friends that I asked in my home town seem just as interested as I am.

Heard of this game from a guildie two weeks ago so I dont know much yet.

Honestly I dont care of this game is ground breaking awesome or not. I just want a stable game with a large community. Something that will live for a few years so I can actually play the game. Since DAOC there hasnt been a game I have played longer than 3 months.

I do not know why, but i'm feeling so confident about this that i'm not even afraid of being disappointed. The ambiance feels very mature. Many features show that it is designed to mmo experienced players. Many of the addons you use to play any other mmorpg are already included. Layout editing, very good quest tracker/map indicator, a "search bags" function...

Also, the world is not cartoon/anime, it's some nice mix of fantasy/steampunk that i've been waiting for a long time.

Well to start. I just have this really good feeling about Rift. Usually when I have this sort of feeling about a game I end up right. So I am certain I will love this game.

What sets it apart from other fantasy MMO's is the soul system and the dynamic Rift content. This game will have more class possibilities than any other MMO out their save for the likes of Champions Online. The Rift system will give the game so much replay value. The way they have the servers has not been done in a similar MMO before. The servers can literally handle a server wide invasion with hundreds of NPC's and players fighting each other.

The lore is very well thought out and interesting and the game looks outstanding visually. I was surprised to hear that this is running on GameBryo. Can't even tell. They must've modified it extensively.

My 2 cents.

The game is essentially released complete. So none of this ..we plan on adding swimming
later on crap you get with Aion.

Aion has spent the last 16 month catching up to what should have been released from day 1
and it is not the only MMO. **** FF14 has to completely change the entire game because
they f'd up so bad.

Everything they add from now on will be fluff and content updates. The devs seems to be able
to push out fixes to commonsense issues extremely fast.

They have said world pvp will remain on pvp server with minimum guards to run too. I had a
ton of fun in Scarlet Gorge yesterday.

It has a UI I am used too and does not require forever to figure it out. Call it a WoW clone,
but remember WoW copied EQ and EQ copied the one that came before it too sooo.....

True next gen games in NA/EU come in baby steps and not incredibly new systems because we are
incredibly stubborn when it comes to what we are used to from an MMO.

I pretty much agree with this, and so far, beta 5 has exceeded my expectations. If I can get 6 months of solid enjoyment out of Rift, I'll be content. Anything else, to me, is gravy.

One thing I've been really happy with so far is the in-game community. People there seem surprisingly decent.

I'm not a fanboy of SE, or FF, but I loved XI. I'm playing XIV, but can understand disappointment. They have elements I like, but are lacking content.

I signed up for beta on a whim and ...love it. The constant flow of storyline? *drool* I love it. Content!! I'd like a few major quests, dealing with factions, but that would be a later storyline anyway. For now, I'm very happy just to immerse myself in this fun world.

If I don't feel like doing quests, I can chase Rifts all day. :D Fun! And you can get to know people that way/ Or not. You choice. Or I can craft, and just grind out mobs to get supplies. And the AH? It works smoothly.

This is something that ive wanted to hear. I made an account yesterday and plan on trying out the open beta. This response has given me good expectations as this sounds exactly like what im looking for.

What i love about Rift *will try to keep this short lol

1. Versatility - there are 4 callings, which have about 8ish different types of classes all in which we can play around and build a role with three of those souls. I am a cleric so when i'm questing or leveling i don't have to have gimp dps, i can just switch to a dps build, then back in dungeons, go back to my healing spec, etc. The versatility makes the game unique. Oh and they save your hot bars too when switching between roles.

2. Dynamic Rifts - It's not like Aion rifts where you portal over to the enemy side and kill your enemy. Dynamic rifting, is more pve, if you read the lore of RIFT, there are creatures trying to invade your realm and control it so, everyday there is normally a big server wide event where rifts are every where and you need to seal them and kill the invading forces.

3. there is actually content - Unlike FFXIV where there are no dungeons, just guildleves to do repeatedly until you realize oh wait i have to wait another 12 hrs before i can get them again crap. Or in Aion where you are doing two dungeons over and over and over only to find no loot, or reward. Rift actually has things for us to do at all levels. When you hit 50 you can change the difficulty of dungeons.

4. Did i mention the devs actually care? Most people are tired of broken promises, we'll fix this, it's working as intended crap. They actually listen to player feedback and fix what they are going to say they are going to fix.

5. It's fun - i honestly have not had this much fun in a game since well god knows when

Anyway i'm sure i can write an entire article about how amazing the game is, but hey open beta is coming up, it's free, and i'm sure you'll get an invite see for yourself what the hype it is all about.

I played FFXI for years, then WoW for years and have for the last year been eagerly awaiting FFXIV. Played FFXIV and enjoyed it at the start and for the first month......then just got bored. I had not followed Rift at all but I got into Beta yesterday and played for three or four hours and it was the most fun I have had in an MMO since the early days of WoW's release.

I am only level 10, but got involved in some rift parties which was a total distraction from quest grinding and just fun.

After the progressive "difficulty" adjustments made to make WoW more and more mainstream, and SE's attempt to make FFXIV as non WoW as possible (to the extent of having nothing to do in the game), it is a breath of fresh air to play a game that takes the best of WoW, mixes it with a system and stats based model that takes us back to Vanilla WoW, and then wraps it up in some pretty graphics and introduces some fun new elements.

My faith in the genre has been restored.

Pre-ordered and looking forward to 24 Feb!

Now I just need to find an Australian guild.
