Now that the third Rift closed beta event is planned and the beta NDA has lifted, we were curious to find out Trion Worlds' thoughts on the entire process. We decided to go straight to Trion Worlds CCO and Rift Executive Producer Scott Hartsman to discuss what the team has learned from the feedback that was submitted from the two previous beta events.

While Hartsman did touch on the subjects in his recent letter to the community, we were able to get him to elaborate a bit more on the third closed beta event, large scale events and more. Read the full article here!

I like the fact the producer is so involved and actully speaks about the game. Some you dont hear much about and gets done sloppy. I hope the game designers actully put some soul into this game, it will definitly give it a much nicer aura and vibe. Already it seems awesome and pretty solid.

As the third beta does not go over level 20, do we know how they are going to allow us to get more points without going over it? Are character going to get 2 points every level or something?

Do we know if they are going to have an open beta or maybe just a 4th beta that does allow us to go past level 20?

One of the devs slipped up in one of the podcasts and said there would be 7 beta events. Nobody knows how true or false that is yet. Personally I expect that there will be more than just 3 Betas since I would assume they will want to run a longer (at least 1 or 2 week) beta before release so they can test longer term stability of the servers.

The devs have stated that they are going to allow full choice of all souls at start (instead of just 3). They have also said they are going to be accelerating soul point acquisition so you have more soul points sooner, but I haven't heard any details of exactly how fast it's going to be. It could be something as simple as you get 5 points at level 1 and then 1 point per level or 2 points per level, we'll find out tomorrow. I think I read somewhere that you are also going to get your second soul before you even get into combat for the first time (but I can't remember where I read that, so I might be misremembering).

Well information on the game has been pouring from the devs. Not only that but the NDA has been dropped. So they must be very confident in where Rift is and I wouldn't be surprised if we see a February or March release date.

From the Beta3 patch notes:

Quote:
* Souls are now given out sooner and with more choices available - all souls are available at level 1, and you will leave the starting zone with three souls for your character.
* Increased the number of soul points awarded to characters. You now receive 1 additional point every third level, and finish with a total of 66 points at level 50.
