Im Bohtauri, or Boh for short. Im the admin that oversee's the Rift@ZAM wiki.
to answer your q's and comments.
The Rift@ZAM wiki gets updated very very often. Since the Beta NDA has dropped only a few days ago the Rift@ZAM wiki has almost doubled in size. Compared to telarapedia that has added& edited ~12pages.
Unlike other wikis out there, The Rift@ZAM wiki has me working full-time or Rift stuff so you can be sure that it wont be left alone.
Accuracy is always of top importance to me. I strive to keep things accurate.especially with Rift being in Beta things can most certainly change.
On the case of google, I cant speak for google but from my experience, if people makes links to the rift@zam wiki on their sites we have a higher chance of appearing at the top of google search results.
But in the end there is only so much I can do on the wiki. The wiki can only be a success if the community gets behind it and support it. If you or others out there want to add or update content but dont know how. ask in the forums or PM me. Thats what I get paid to do
Telarapedia is our competitor, theres no denying it, but we are open to any opinions, I try my best to use all opinions and ideas in a constructive way. If you think they have a feature that you would like on our wiki, let me know and I can get to work building it.
And the best question for last
What is the difference between the two?
So far not much honestly but some main points are. Rift@ZAM is growing a lot faster than Telarapedia. You have me
working at least every day of the work week on the wiki. If we get a Item Database for Rift we have "wikibase" technology. this means every database item/npc/quest e.t.c has its own wiki page that anyone signed in can edit, making it a wiki and Item database in one. Basically a one-stop shop for anything you need to know. Also I'm paid to be an admin for ZAM, so you have real cash being invested into the Rift ZAM community.
Any item/quest/npc e.t.c wiki page made now will automatically get plugged into the item database "if" we get one. So any hard work made now wont be wasted.
I cant represent Telarapedia but in a unbiased way I do know. 1) They have cleaner urls, 2) Its run purely by volunteers 3)They have a lot more guilds posting wiki articles about their groups. 4) They use the standard Mediawiki platform. We use custom made systems of wiki and item databases that's been developed to help the gaming communities specifically. A question missed out is "what are your plans?"
This is where I get goosebumps because I know whats in store for you guys. I am planning a very large wiki at the very very least. Very suppportive, informative and accurate. We have a lot of projects in the pipeline that my hands are tied so i cant squeal, but what I can say is we have a lot in store for the community and once the game is released, expect the floodgates to be opened in a huge way in helpful resources.
In a long story short.... I have to be biased towards my hard work. I don't want to build it just to abandon it later. You have my personal guarantee that Rift@ZAM wiki will be the best I can admin it.
It'll be even better as the community works on it too.
