Starting Monday, I should be back in full swing for my last big batch of VIP keys to give away. Now that the Holidays are over, I don't have that pesky 'real life' thing bothering me anymore! Smiley: grin

Did you play in the last Beta Event? I did! The mass invasions were in a word - fantastic. I had a good deal of fun getting my Kelari **** handed to me on a platter. What were your experiences? Let us know in this thread!

ZAM is definitely keeping an ear out for word of a beta 4!

One of the funniest thing I encountered was this game of tag I had with a guardian rogue, where we would play stealth for atleast 1 hour, eventually I killed him, but only because he had a mob on him and he couldn't stealth.

The massive rift invasions where crazy, and getting the purple pants from the planar goods vendor felt so rewarding afterwards. I heard alot of people complain about the lack of gear from those, but I was happy with it.

Can't wait for beta 4, there are so many builds I want to try out, and I still have to look at the crafting system alot more, and sadly I missed those extra hours of beta because IRL issues, but hanging with the family on new years eve wasn't all that bad :D.

I did the last event (thanks to ZAMs handy dandy VIP key! Thanks ZAM!) It was a blast. I do think adding that 3rd soul in made things interesting, I only wish there had been more points available to really get into those soul trees. There are definitely combinations that work, and combo's that are horrible together. Having the opportunity to freely play and experiment was nice.

One thing that happened to me that I've not seen mentioned anywhere else. I was playing one of my Defiants and was heading into Meridan. I noticed a grouping of NPC's on the road who had definitely not been there before. As I approached I could see it was a merchant group surrounding a large cart. One of the NPC's was upset over a book that the merchants were supposed to have but didn't (or something like that) As I stood there watching the conversation the upset NPC became so enraged with the others he lost his head and attacked me. I quickly took him down! The other merchants commented that I had been a bit harsh with him. LOL! I was awarded a title of Merchant of Death and the NPC's disappeared. It was awesome! Completely random, nothing you could go looking for and felt like one of those one time deals I just happened to be lucky enough to be a part of. I really hope they always add in these types of random interactions!

The huge Rift event was amazing! Actually the Rifts themselves are amazing. They really bring together random people and it was fun to be a part of a raid that was created on the fly. My only thoughts are that there needs to some type of AOE raid invite system when you come into a rift area. It sucks when you want to group up and all you can do is scream out INVITE over and over and hope someone invites you in the middle of the chaos!

Overall I would rate the game a 9 out of 10. I can't wait to see what the upper levels are like as well as a real grouping in a dungeon. I didn't get a chance to do that this time, but will be my focus if the next event allows.

Me and my boyfriend have VIP's from Zam which is awesome as well. :) The only problem I have with the HUGE invasion was that the bosses only do knockbacks. There was no strategy besides whack at them and run back towards them. I didn't realize it until my friend mentioned it but it is true.

I did not hear about those random events ever. That is really interesting.

Oh and I did one of the Defiant escorts and the person we were helping was not a COMPLETE MORON like in most games.

And if you think about it, in almost every game at least 1 person uses everything. I think this will make the game really interesting because any time you group up with somebody you will most likely have a different experience rather than knowing if you group up with a tank they are going to have this equipment and those abilities and that skill rotation.

No :/

I spent the last beta uninstalling that other MMO, flushing my PC's cooling system because it just felt so, so very dirty after that other MMO, and watching trailers and gameplay footage for Rift (and GW2, but we don't need to get into that here :P).

I did!

Ya, ya. Rub it in :P

Anyone else notice the crazy guy sitting on top of the official Rift site stuffing his face the entire time you're trying to read about the game? How rude...

I did get to play in Beta Event 3 and was pleasantly surprised :)

I didn't expect much and didn't read much about the game prior to testing it, and in way I'm glad.
It allowed me to go in without any misconceptions and the likes and I ended up having fun!

The events are great but a bit confusing for beginners.
It's funny to see people from beta events 1 & 2 acting like veterans and not always having much patience for newcomers :P

I'm missing the game already and feel I barely scratched the surface.

The soul system is very interesting and engaging.
From you first steps in the game you feel you're accomplishing something thanks to the spells at your disposal.

Got my **** kicked also, too eager to charge a rift without checking the level of the mobs first haha

In my opinion, while Rift will not revolutionize the fantasy mmo genre (and they are not trying to) there is a lot of potential for good times!

Fingers crossed that I get to participate in the next beta events (crossing toes also for good measure ^^ )

First I would like to let you know that I just saw on the Rift website that the 4th betaWarfronts is schedule to start on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 at 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) through 10:00 AM PST (18:00 GMT) on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011

To answer your question, I've was lucky enough to be invited to beta 2 and beta 3. I really enjoyed playing during both of those events.

Souls systemAt first when I saw the post about the first patch of Beta 3 saying that we would have all 3 basic souls when leaving the beginning area I was septic about this decision, because I was afraid that Rift would do like many MMO and give everything easy without any work. But after playing beta 3 helped me understand better what the souls system was really about was. I've played a Paragon, with Reaver and Riftblade souls and really enjoyed the many options that were offered to me.

The graphics of this game were the best I've seen in MMO's, I've played EQ, EQ2, FFXI, Vanguard and World of Warcarft and so far, I think RIFT has a very solid product even before the release date which as per EBGAMES pre-order would be schedule on March 1st, 2011. (Can't wait) However, Direct2Drive or Steam do not have pre-order or release date on their website yet.

The MEGA Rift invasions were really original and fun. The dev team probably has the best load test scenario during those. It was had on my system at time, my 5870 would give me a 35-40 fps average, but during those mega events or when playing with 30+ other ppl it would go as low as 7-10 fps which was making the game a bit harder to play.

That been said, I really hope to be part of beta 4 and all other beta, maybe Zam could give me a little VIP key to help me a bit ;0)

More Keys? Absolutely, haven't had the chance to nab one myself but I would love to test the game.

More Betas? Well it surely couldn't hurt i'd say.

Question..

How do we get even a non-VIP key?

I heard people say they "hunted some down" but I have no idea how aside from just waiting to get an email saying I'm in.

As Beta 3 was my first experience of Rift - I really wanted to try the game out for myself without being hand held in any direction by what I had read on any forum. Below are my thoughts....

I have to say at first impression.......there seemed to be a lot of similarities to other MMO's but as the old saying goes 'if it aint broke dont fix it' and I struggled to get my head around the best way to utilise merging different souls to create a new hybrid character.

BUT...

I put my expectations to one side and as I found a class I enjoyed - didnt try to mix things up too much with different souls - it started to get interesting. Then it hit me... as I levelled I started to get involved in Rift fights - driving back the hoards of mobs - this was something new and exciting. People were running around like scared chickens panicing - a few more experienced players started to co ordinate attacks and we moved in to close the Rifts and at the end the rewards were good. This experience left me with a sense of not being able to wait for the next event to start.

Important to note this is still beta - I am sure that things are still to change. The dev's seem to really listen and care what the gamer wants which is fantastic. There is definately a great game with something for everyone to be had here. Should I not get an invite to any further beta I am sure this will be my next purchase.

Fingers crossed.

I played beta 3 and wow would I love to play beta 4. I just got back Iraq in November and was looking for a new game and I found it. The rift system is really awesome especially if you hate quests like I do! The rogue class was lot of fun and pvp was really enjoyable. I would love to test warfronts as well!

I am really interested in seeing how beta4 adds to the game. I am all for a little PvP excitement in the game as long as it isn't pushed on us 24/7. I think Trion's willingness to listen to the player/tester will go a long way to show the other companies how to go about business with the customer. I do not yet have a VIP key but I am pretty sure that I will be pre-ordering the game because of their customer service.

Thank you Zam for the key. i got in the last beta and WOW!! most of what i got to say has been send by now. the first main invasion i was like what the HEllo? i seen the invt to RAID going out so i joint to and it was on. it was like a mass 40+ ppl raid with out the 3 hr start time. it turned the whole area one big insta. I LOVED IT!!!!!!!!! i am one of the ppl who get 1 maybe 2 hr a day to play so PvE is mostly out for me.
there was some realm raid PvP going on to it was fun. i am really hoping to get in the next Beta to try some PVP. this well make or break the game for me. i well say the PvE in this game is one of the best i have ever played. i have played most game form Daoc to this one. all i can say this is the first game for me that is going to have the whole deal. WOW was a good game for PvE but i think this PvE has taken it to the next lvl me that is. Daoc was the best PvP for me and if Rift can get close OR beat it. then all i can LONG LIVE RIFT.

I really enjoyed my time in Beta 3, but there's a lot more stuff I wanted to try that I didn't get around to. The instanced dungeon, another calling, a totally different soul arrangement, dueling, group PvP, and the other factions starting area, to name the major ones. I could really use a VIP key to make sure I can get back in this weekend.

Looking forward to possibly being accepted into beta 4 after trying beta 3, it's sad that I was unable to get a hold of a key this time unless they still have more to send out. I've been looking everywhere for a chance at a VIP key just to get my fix of this game. Played a rogue and found the way classes are organized with the soul system to be a refreshing change from the usual formula in use by most mmorpgs.

Playing in CB3 of Rift was a blast. I was so disappointed to find out that since I didn't have a VIP key I wasn't automatically in this upcoming phase. I'm on the lookout for a VIP key, so if anyone has one to give away I promise if it's given to me it will get a lot of use. :)
