If I had to pick only one aspect that I love about RIFT (which is hard enough already) it would be that there is no safe place. I absolutely LOVE that invasions will attack and kill NPCs. I enjoy it because it's immersive. When mobs ignore NPC's the thought runs through my mind, "Why are you sending me to get your stuff? Those skeletons don't even attack you!"

What is YOUR favorite part of the RIFT experience?

It can be obnoxious, but it definitely contributes a lot to immersion. It actually feels like you're in a world at war, rather than the static 'frozen in time' feel you got from most mmo's.

I agree with you, the random invasions is fun and makes you stay alert all the time. More dynamism in the game I guess, at least there is no way you will simply stand in one spot and kill non stop, without having to run away from a group of aggressive invaders.

The random invasions are amazingly fun. On Sunday my husband, friend, and I were traveling into Stonefield to begin quests at level 20, but because most of the others our level were in a different part of the zone or running IT over and over we were forced to deal with some pretty crazy rift stuff. For one thing, every quest camp was occupied by earth monsters when we first arrived, so we had to clear those out before we could do anything else. Then we started work on the major death and major earth rift fighting each other and setting up footholds all over the place. It was chaos and absolutely the most fun I've had in any MMO in ages. We'd go do a couple quests, come back to town, and it'd be in the middle of another attack so we got to defend and then clear the area out again. I really love Trion right now.

I agree, it's great fun. I think for me it's never knowing what's going to happen next. When I need to run somewhere or head to town, I never know if the way will be clear or what I'll run into. Just because the townspeople were alive and well when I left, doesn't mean they will be when I return. I had a blast!
I don't want to grow old gracefully.
I want to skid in sideways, screaming "WOO HOO! What a ride!".
