Do you all think that certain personality traits (e.g. extroversion, shyness, assertiveness) lead players towards certain playstyles, classes, or factions?

To some extent yes. I don't really like to be well known in games that i play. Some other people really want everyone to know them and they do everything possible(even bad stuff) to get known.

Since EQ1 i always played a cleric class. This way if you are good, you get known by how you heal and normally healers(at least good ones) are sort after. The healing class fits me well because of that.

I think personality absolutely goes towards playstyle. I have a nephew who is very aggressive and has no use for anyone not helping him to get the leet loot in the game he currently plays. I have always played a healer going back to EQ1 and have fun helping people out. Ironically, I became rather well known on my server, though I wasn't looking for that. I guess in those days in EQ, there were just a lot of folks who needed help.

With me it kinda works in reverse. I'm a pretty laid back, easy going guy IRL, but in rpg's I tend to gravitate towards the RAWR I WILL JAM YOUR HEAD ON A PIKE AND BEAT YOUR MOTHER TO DEATH WITH IT types.
