Just curious what the Zam userbase leans towards. It feels like the official forums have a lot of PvP posters, and it was my thought that more players in general play PvE than PvP. So which do you prefer. And by this I mean, will you play on a pvp server or pve. I know there will be pvp on pve forums, but it won't be mandatory, the user will choose that.

I've had fun on pvp servers, but it's usually too much of a gankfest for my taste.

I play and will play PvE.

PVE for me, there is enough PVP in the PVE server, to add more to it, lol

Last thing I want is everyone against me, :)

While I'm not too keen on the idea of being ganked by every asshat who hit the level cap in a week or less while I try to quest, PvP is gonna be a big part of my enjoyment of any mmo, especially endgame. And while things like warfronts and arenas are fun, I'd like to see a bigger focus on world pvp. Maybe later zones could be contested, and players from either faction have to hold footholds or some similar macguffin, and take them from the enemy to open up areas of the zone for questing.

Hmm what I understood from the PVE server, is that you can still go pvp against the other race, but you cannot pvp against your own race, correct me if I am wrong...

If this is true, then even while in the PVE server, you will be able to create raid parties and gank other players, apart from the arena, duels and similar features.

You cannot PvP your own faction. Very few games allow for that.

I personally lean towards PvE but I am starting to like the option to PvP. I also do not like being ganked but I will vote for PvP servers but lean towards PvE still.

But you have to flag yourself for PvP. So If I don't want you to, you can't gank me.

What kind of penalties come from getting flagged as pk, do you drop items if killed? or simply can get killed without flagging other people and lose exp?

Basically, on a PvE server, you will be unflagged for PvP at all times unless:

1. you attack a flagged player of the opposite faction,
2. you attack an NPC of the opposite faction, or
3. you flag yourself manually.

Once flagged, you have to go a period of time (2 minutes I think)without attacking or being attacked by the opposing faction for the flag to wear off.

As far as I'm aware, there are no penalties for dying in PvP aside from having to resurrect.

I will be choosing a PVE server, since that is what I enjoy, but I do like to PVP in my down times.

I'm going PVP. I enjoy PvP if it is done right. These next few betas will confirm that for sure.

Oh I see, well if there are no major penalties beside resurrecting, I guess it isn't that bad to get flagged.

And yes PvP is ok if done right, but there is always some that enjoy ******* other people off...

PVP for sure. I'm planning on being one of those race top the top folks (- the whole griefing the other team part), so I doubt I'll be getting ganked. I just want the most out of my game. If jumping sides and going on town-burning raids is boring because nobody flags, well, that's pretty lame. And if that happens to me when I'm trying to level an alt or something? Oh well, there's always rifts to chase somewhere else while waiting for quests to be doable again.

I like pvp but on my own time, i dont like having to deal with ppl trying to gank while im peacfully questing minding my own business so I will be playing on pve server but i will pvp in warfronts and such.

I'll be playing on a PvE server. I've tried playing on a PvP server in WoW and I didn't like it. On a PvP realm, if your focus and primary interest isn't PvP, it can get extremely frustrating when you just want to sit down and do some PvE activities only to get repeatedly steamrolled by players who live and breathe PvP. If I feel like some PvP, I can always do some warfronts. Otherwise, I'll stick with my PvE shenanigans.

I like to pvp. I don't know how that will translate over to Rift (if I subscribe). I don't have much taste for pure pve anymore...so Rift might not be a game for me to play at all.

Might be a little late to be throwing this up, but why not.
Which server type would you prefer?
PvE:14 (70.0%)
PvP:6 (30.0%)
Total:20

Personally I prefer pvp type server, but I'll be playing with a group of friends and so that choice could be affected by their personal preferences. We did end up rolling pvp for Warhammer though.

Also, hi Elinda and Aurelius.
