A question about character creation--

I am getting a little bogged down in the combination of souls and callings. From everything I have read it doesn't appear that you can have more than one character but maybe I am misunderstanding how the souls work. For example, in WOW I could have 8 different combinations of race, ***, class, and faction (on certain servers). As a bit of a role playing geek, I don't always choose a character to play based on skill set. Sometimes I want to be a dwarf, sometimes I want to be an elf, etc.

I am concerned that if I choose the calling of a dwarf warrior then I am stuck just playing what a dwarf warrior calling has to offer. If I want to have a dwarf rogue, and a human cleric and an elf warrior, will there be the ability for me to have multiple characters to choose from?

I know that as soon as I decide to play it will become very clear how the soul system works. Since this game is PC only I have to go through the time and expense of getting my mac hard drive partitioned with boot camp so I am doing research to help justify it.

Thanks for any responses from those who know.

oh, and of course what if I want to play a guardian one day and Defiant the next? Is this possible or is it just one character creation opportunity? I only ask because I haven't found anything definitive. I can assume since all other MMO games I have played allow multiple characters per account then this will be similar in Rift.

It's all speculation until the game goes live, but currently you can have 6 characters per server and from what I read in these forums, you can have both factions on the same server (though I suspect that will change on live, pvp servers at least)
