I saw a lot of these changes from the alpha leak.

Some notable changes:
-Racial differences are completely altered and now mostly noncombat.
-Attack power no longer affects auto-attacks.
-Tanking souls for Warriors have changed.
-While there are substantial changes to many soul trees, one common element among all of them is abilities that get stronger the more points you put into that individual tree. Previously it was optimal to only go up to about 31 points in a single soul; now there is increased incentive to spend beyond that.

I think the racial change is particular odd, and I feel it's more of a lateral move than an improvement. Previously radials were quite meaningful (especially for kelari and high elves), but hugely imbalanced. Now they've tried to go with more flavor style abilities that don't have combat effects, but I feel they've made some mistakes here. I don't believe that direction is flawed, but they've made errors in trying to achieve that goal. The Ethia and Mathosian movespeed bonus is the kind of ability that can give someone a functional edge in pvp, such as getting to the fang faster in Black Garden, or reaching capture points faster, and many other situations. They also have stat bonuses for each race, and while these may be minor it is still a querulous choice. I understand that the Wisdom bonus helps characterize Elves as being wise, and dwarves getting strrength characterizes them as being stout, and etc. However, even though it's minor, people will still want to min-max their characters. High Elves are the best Guardian race for Clerics, and it's silly to have such an obvious-if-small advantage. You can be a Dwarf Cleric, but you're very clearly paying a price for it; a small price, but a price.

I personally like the direction they're going with things. I had thought right from the get go that the past racials weren't going to work because they were far too powerful. These ones now are better suited racials in my opinion, but if there does turn out to be any noticeable advantages in PvP due to that sprint letting you get to certain objectives faster, that will have to be addressed.

I don't think the stats are a big deal at all. It didn't even cross my mind, to be honest. I wouldn't think twice about playing a Dwarf over an Elf Cleric, if I wanted to be a Dwarf. 10stats is 10stats, it's going to be rather insignificant towards endgame. If people want to min/max, that's they're own deal, but they have no room to gripe really like they're pigeon holed in to a race; because they're really not. I'm not saying you're griping, but I'm just stating (in my opinion), there's not even any room for gripe, so I think it's all good.

Best racial's are the Jump forward ones.
The Bahmi and the High Elves get it. My rogue now has 2 "blink" moves...makes getting around a little faster if I don't want to get on the 2 headed terrapin mount.
side note: the pre-order vanity pet (the chick one) is annoying.

@KT,

All you have to do is get to the first camp with a mailbox, which I believe you'll run in to around level 7. Then you can pick up all the goodies out of the mailbox.

I just find it to be an annoyance. I never like having to choose between functionality and aesthetics, and I think it's a bad choice to force on players. If they wanted to characterize the races more, then there are so many other ways they could do it that wouldn't have imposed the choice.

well capping off the last time ill be playing in this beta, gotta say it ROCKED! lots of crazy rift action goin on and some pretty crazy invasions with mobs that were actually challenging. I rolled a Necromancer/warlock defiant side for a change of pace and it was a blast.

Not sure ill be playing the next beta(s?) at all and will just wait for release.
