A few questions from a Potential PlayerFollow

Hello everyone, and thank you for taking the time to read, and perhaps help.

I have been playing MMO's now since 1999 when EQ1 was in its infancy. I have played a ton of games since that time which include: EQ2, WoW, DaoC, LotRO, Aion (briefly), Warhammer (briefly).

Nothing has come close to fulfilling the initial enjoyment I had from EQ1. I am very excited to buy, and play this game when it is released. The possibilites for character uniqueness has me foaming at the mouth to play.

I have been reading through all the class descriptions and using talent calculators to satisfy my unbelievable urge to embark on a truly new and unique game/journey.

While concocting my own version of a character, I end up with more and more questions, the more combinations that I try. So, I'm hoping to get a little better understanding of how this works, so I can have an initial game plan when this goes live. I will try to be as clear as possible. I will first state what I know, what I understand, and then follow up with where I am confused.

I understand

That I choose a Calling, and from there ~ I can have 3 active souls within that calling which make my character unique.
That I will have a total of 66 points to distribute amongst those 3 souls, giving my individual character a chance to be even more unique than someone elses version.

What I don't understand

When gain a new skill at say level 2 and in the tooltip it reads something like "Thunder Blast- Blasts the enemy with lightning dealing 17 - 20 Air damage and knocking them back." Q: Will that spell scale all the way up to level 50, dealing more and more damage every level I gain, or does it just improve based on Improved stats from gear as I level? Or does it never improve? Edited and Answered

Is there any benefit, or people that believe, choosing just 2 souls is the way to go, and spending all 66 talents in 2 souls, forgoing the 3rd?

I have searched the forums, and could not find anything that answered my questions, and I appreciate any feedback you may have.

Seems you found your answer, but I thought I'd answer just in case.

All spells you receive will scale up to 50. Like in WoW and Lotro you buy additional ranks for abilities as you level. With ranks improving base damage and gear improving additional damage abilities should be relatively about as effective at 50 as they are at level 2.

There can be a benefit. It depends on the souls involved, their talents, and the root abilities you gain.

The default situation seems to be focusing on 2 souls, and choosing to either distribute points primarily in one to get better passive boosts and access to deeper root abilities or to do an even split of about 32-32 between the two to get the 31 point talent in each plus the 32 point root ability. It is unlikely something like 22-22-22 will be especially good. However, some third souls have very good talents that are very early in the tree, and so it is beneficial to diversify more.

It's really more of a case by case situation. There is no universally optimal format.
