Ranger PVE BuildFollow

Wanted to get some input on the viability of this build.

Ranger (40) / Assassin (21) / Riftstalker (5)

I really enjoy the Ranger calling, and working with the pet class. I don't like the kiting mechanism of the Marksman calling, so I'm trying to work around that. With this build, I get many of the passive crit/atk bonuses of the assassin, along with blind for when a mob gets to me. It also gives me the ability to stealth, and instantly call my pet upon coming out of stealth. Last, I included the Riftstalker calling for the warp and bonus to attack.

Any thoughts on how good this build might actually be? Or am I gimping myself by ignoring the Marksman calling?

Thanks in advance.

why would you skip over imp. quick shot and bestial fury for enduring!?

also, even if you dislike the kiting from marksman, just take it for the passivs, they are amazing for rangers.

i'd go with this build for endgame pve:

all i can say is there are 4 spec's you can have ready, and to each his own. that being said, your build w the assasin going for the stealth is more of a leveling or pvp build, as a pve build would be more focused on just single target dps imo. this is my fave build and i will explain why:

first off, if you go for the blood raptor or even just placing points into the ranger soul your are dependant on the pet staying alive, and there is only so much rejuvinate can do, so that explains the "Enduring". with the 10 points in nightblade soul your combo point abilities really take a bite out of the mob. with auto attacks making up a very small aount of your damage dealt i dont see the need for placing points in "Doubleshot" when they can be put to better use, again, imo. all in all, this build is focused on your combo using abilities, rather than on crit like with the assassin soul, but my 2 mainstay souls are marksman and ranger, they work very well together and its hard to justify not using marksman if you want to be a ranger. that third soul is a toss up, and i have tried them all, but this one has a bigger impact on your damage imo. now i could be wrong, like the man said, the game is new and everyone is experimenting. but with this build i picked only what made progress twards single target PvE DD. the "trick shot" is there for aoe on trash only, and its usefull as it is fast and fills up the combo points up quickly so you can use concussive blast. please pick it apart, as i could use some ideas, but this build atm is all i can see as the "best" ranger build.

Dps spec without raptor

DPS with raptor

I cannot decide if the pet raptor is worth it or not but this is what I am going with so far, what do you all think is the best. I know in my setup for the DPS without raptor I waste 2 points rapid extrication but I didnt notice that when I made it orginally.

Does Penetrating Shots 20% armor reduction stack with that from Piercing Shot? Piercing Shot buffed with Exposure at max rank should be 577.6 armor reduction.

But using Lightning strikes from the MM root ability would seem to be a more efficient use of not only talent points but GCD's. You would be debuffing 4 enemies at 361 armor with 1 CD and saving 4 talent points.

After looking after the builds and the info here, I had originally started with a build very close to the 38 ranger, 23 marks, and 5 sab, I think i am going to try out a modified version like this

what does everyone think ? is it viable or am I off base? ss the master huntsman worth taking? I am currently level 40 and found I really only use the greater razorbeast pet, I also have not done very many instances yet where the raptor pet would come in handy.

The Marksman points look good. My comments on Ranger: Take 1 point out of Improved Quick Shot and put it into Crippling Shot. This will actually improve your dps (or so I hear) overall. Then, take the point out of Trick Shot and put it into Rain of Arrows. Much better aoe damage imo. I also personally think that Doubleshot is more useful than Enduring, but that is up for debate. Master Huntsman is definitely not necessary. Also, since you're not going assassin as your 3rd soul, you won't be making them bleed too much most likely, so take the points out of Blood Rage and put them into Opportunity.

after reading the info posted here, i am torn between assassin vs nightblade as a support soul to my ranger/marksman build. i am currently using this build for t1/2 instances and most times i am top dps.

Ranger (32) / Marksman (24) / Nightblade (10)

but i have been wondering how the assassin soul will compare to the nightblade combo point generating abilities booster, as the assassin soul is more based on critical damage increase. i will have to try it out and see how it does. but i must say that the only souls that complement the ranger/marksman build is the nightblade or assassin (looking into it) souls by bringing more to the table than just adding dex or w/e IMO, of course.

This is what I use:

It does pretty good dps in GSB thus far, so I'll probably stick with it. Note that it is different from the build in my sig. While I like the Sabo build, I think at this point the ranger is higher dps as long as you can manage your pet well (which took me a little bit but now I have no problem keeping him up 95% of the time).
