I was unjustly removed from RIFT forums:Follow

#1 Apr 15 2011 at 3:15 PM Rating: Sub-Default
The last thing I posted was maybe there should be more for lvl 50's to do in asnwer to a long post about why lvl 50's go around ganking RIFTs from other players. Next thing I knew I was banned from the forums. More than half my posts were pro-RIFT and I signed every thread I found that said, "Do you love this game?" It's sad.

No offense ZAM but your buy an account or you can't have an avatar stinks. I wonder if you'll ban me for telling you that.

So much for Freedom of Speech. I guess it applies real life USA and not Cyberspace.

Judging by your attitude I am just certain you are telling the truth.

Well, here's the proof:

I hate it when no one believes. I worked for an establishment in my youth where the manager stold from my drawer but accused me. Who would believe a lowly clerk was telling the truth? People given a little power do corrupt.

There is one forum administrator on RIFT forums that is corrupt.

There is also a subversive RIFT employee who is selling our emails to gold spammers.

I still haven't received any RIFT related spam, or any additional spam since I registered here not all that long ago.

I don't get any email gold selling spam on my Trion registered email, nor have I gotten a single spam msg on my Zam account. I have no idea why you were banned from Zam forums but I'm sure there was some reason, like trying to sell stuff on posts, link to non-Zam sites, flaming with profanity, who knows.

I'll be the first to admit I am very opinionated and have written so on many of my posts, and I haven't been banned so why you and not me, must be some reason.

My Zam account is about 7 years old at this point. I've never had any malware from Zam, I've never had any spam from Zam, and my natural spam density hasn't increased substantially since getting my account with Zam.

They choose to charge for the privilege of having an avatar and posting images... yeah... so? Those aren't vital forum functions, so why not charge for them and help pay the bills.

Oh also, Freedom of Speech is vastly overstated. The actual amendment says that Congress shall pass no law abridging the freedom of speech. Says nothing about private organizations censoring you, just Congress. These sites can do whatever they want with your posts that you're posting on their servers in their space with their money.

1. I don't think you've been banned. Doesn't it say "banned" under your name when you're actually banned? Perhaps you were phished, or forgot your password or something else.

2. Buy an account. Stop being a smartas.s

3. Freedom of speech is a very abused term. Site moderation is no different than saying things appropriately in certain contexts. If a kid was yelling in my library I'd tell him to knock it off or GTFO.

I don't see any reason why you should be banned, but you aren't doing any favors with that attitude.

I posted to a GM in game and was told to visit this site: http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?165525-Please-Read-Players-with-Forum-Access-Issues&p=2148333#post2148333 So I guess Trion doesn't hate my flippant oppinions afterall! I hope they get this fixed soon. I have friends on that forum and I want to post some pics I took recently.

........................

Concerning the spammers. Someone has been selling our Trion email accounts. I hope Trion finds out who and fires them but idk how they would. I'm sure the dude/gal isn't wearing a hat that says, "Have you cheated your employer today?"

Here is what the email looks like that you recieve: phishing. Looks real official.

Also beware of people sending you a wispher/tell in game saying you won some game related item and you have to log on to said site↑ .

This is correct. Freedom of Speech DOESN'T apply to private forums. It's not supposed to, and it never has. That you even brought it up suggests pretty strongly that you don't actually know what Freedom of Speech even is.

Few things online bug me more than people who invoke rights that they don't even have. Before you start complaining about your rights, you should maybe spend five minutes learning what they actually are.

While the OP is doing a very good impression of a whining git I can verify a concern about the spam thing.

Within minutes of registering an account for the game - for which I used a dormant email address that had received nothing at all for over a year - I was receiving this spam. One actually arrived before the verify email from trion.

This is nothing to do with ZAM. Security here is pretty good. It is about the actual trion site.

I think someone on the O-boards at one point mentioned that Trion's customer service site sends its login information in the clear (no encryption at all). So I wonder if that wouldn't be a possible cause for increased spam.

Like I said above, I haven't gotten any more spam now than at any other point since I started playing MMOs, but my email may have been registered with Trion before the various spammers had their infrastructure in place to swipe it

That's a solid theory. I also receive no spam, but I registered on Trion when they first announced registration, which was some time ago.

No one's going to ban you for speaking your mind. They might ban you for being stupid, though.

I don't know how the freedom of speech thing works in the US, but over here, it basically only gives you the right to be vocal about your stupidity. You still have to answer to what you say. For instance, I have the right to call you a flaming idiot, but unless I can prove that you are indeed a flaming idiot, you could accuse me of slander, which is not allowed as per our constitution.

Of course, none of that matters on a private website where the owners decide what is up and what is down, like mentioned earlier.

Also, protip: Don't start bashing ZAM because you got banned/whatever on Trion's site. They're two different companies. You should move your soapbox to the Trion forums like any self-respecting troll would.

And the monthly fee here is $3. If you can't afford that then obviously avatars aren't important enough for you. So quit yer *********

So you were just overreacting, is that what you're saying?

Color me surprised.
