I've been playing for a few weeks off and on. One thing that has me confused is how to get a mount.
I purchased a Bay saddle but it does nothing. What do I need to be able to call a mount and ride like
most of the players do?

Err.. there's no requirements (ala training) As long as you can have the thing and meet the level reqs you can ride it. Just put it on a hotbar and click it or right click it in your "mounts" section of your character details screen.

Once you "use" the mount that you have purchased, it is added to your Mounts tab in your character profile (Hit "C"). If you then drag that button onto your hotbar you can use it as you would expect.

As for where to purchase mounts, I recommend this page: http://rift.zam.com/wiki/Mounts_%28Rift%29

I got my 40 mount and nearly died. I didn't have to stare at that 2 headed turtle anymore.

As much as I love my mechanical horse I'm likely to get 100 lucky coins before I ever get 150p for the 50 mount. (given I keep spending my money on artifacts)

I'm really dang close to the shiny turtle mount >.>

The tartas have a larger foot base than the horses. It's much easier for me to climb scaffolding on a turtle than on the horse. (or on foot)

Though, it's easier for me to hop-climb mountains on the horse.

Except if it were baby photos, it would be like looking at before and afters of Michael Jackson. Only instead of turning into a white guy, he changes into a chick!

Remember to start every conversation with "I own a horse" now.

Also, KT: utility > beauty :)

Vanity > Utility

This is why I tend to make female characters. I really don't like the macho "IM ******* HUGE BRAH!" male models tend to have.

My rogue character needs to be lithe, **** and nimble not IM A HUMONGOLOID I SWINGS THE GIANT SHINY THING AND IT HURTTEDS PEOPLE!

It also helps that when the time comes for disrobing of the characters for rp seduction, female is obviously better.

I only make female characters for a very different reason.

Also, memory capture helps those eRP moments quite a bit on Harrow ;)

You sir are a scholar and a gentleman. Your observation astounds me at how accurate it is.

I've actually grown partial to the Lion mount for guards... as well as the Rhinocorn, or Yarnosaur, xD I <3 those mounts. I kind of like the turtle, but after awhile he was a bit too loud and quickly replaced by my lion.
