So,

I actually didn't know about the apparently secret cooldown for BoP for Paladin, which makes it kind of makes me sad since I started my build around BoP, Tip the Balance, and Impassable Guard.

http://forums.riftgame.com/showthread.php?148537-So-can-we-have-an-answer-RE-Paladin-Balance-of-Power&p=2042939&viewfull=1

Before I knew, I dumped tons of points into Pally for 44 points for IG, and the survivability was dencent. Since I found out, I re-spec'd with something pretty close to half and half for Pally/Reaver (I'm lvl 45 at the moment) with a bit into Warlord for armor boost.

I get some healing from the block activated abilities of Pally along with constant healing from Soul Sickness from Reaver and Creeping Death.

TBH, I'm loving this build a lot more than heavy Pally. I'm finding survivability for PVP much better and when I'm taking on 5-8 mobs in rifts. Also, I like to annoy the crap out of the Defiants when I Weakening Essence in Black Garden and follow around a group of them =].

What I'm worried about is whether or not this will be viable in dungeons. As of this moment, it looks like I'm the leading tank for my guild (we're very small and just starting out) and I do want to be able to handle dungeons well for my guild.

Any advice?

* Balance of Power: Removed internal cooldown. Tip the Balance still has an internal cooldown.

Similar issue though, right? I don't care much for dealing extra damage to the mob, what I care about is the healing aspect.

For tanking in a dungeon i think the healing you get from it is laughable even w/o a CD. At least with the removal of the CD on BoP you get some better aoe threat gen.

A hybrid tanking build is most certainly viable in expert dungeons, especially on trash. A lot of tanks like to have specialized roles, like trash, physical boss and magic boss.

There is talk that the new VK stuff might make that a really viable soul though, like 51 points viable.

I did hear a little bit about that. So I guess what we're expecting is that they'll buff up VK, then everyone will flood the threads about how OP VK is depending on how sick it is in warfronts, then we'll get nerfed =] LOL

mehbeh.

I dont see how the buff effects pvp much, they still have their ultra nerfed mana draining.

not at home atm but its something like http://rift.zam.com/en/stc.html?t=0chAE.xLRu0ci.Vuqth.xE00o

I mess with it all the time though. Could probably switch some stuff around to help with mitigation.
