I saw a forum post about this subject earlier, not sure where, can't find it. So I'll ask

I was looking up known loot charts for bosses in AP and CC and I can't find much tanking gear. I did a T1 earlier today, (IT) my toughness is 52 and I got hit pretty hard, I don't know if healer wasn't up for it, or if it was me. But I am in mostly blues and a couple greens and I can't seem to find any appropriate tank gear. If people could list sources that'd be great.

I got Orichalcum Greaves already so those are set, I have a decent epic shield which I know I can replace out of AP or CC. My helmet is an epic from Rare Planar vendor and my shoulders are from the same vendor. Chest piece was out of the quest for CC and I have the boots that drop there. Weapon is lvl 40-50 version 1-handed sword from 1.1 event. Weaponsmith can make me a better mace, but I need to find a good tanking necklace, rings, belt, and that'd be it. Also it'd help if I got some Armorsmith tokens so i could get The Wall or the helmet recipes for my warrior.

But yeah any help would be greatly appreciated and I'm sure other tanks would like to know as well.

You can find all this with the item search you know.

http://rift.zam.com/en/itemlist.html?slot=Ring

Using the Stat drop down menu, pick Block, Dodge, or Parry. Switch to a different slot or stat when done looking. Look at the blues first since the purples are most likely instance drops or gear from the Relic vendors.

A specific tanking necklace however is Talisman of Empathic Defense. (Plaque recipe for Artificers)

If all else fails, look up the high level artificer and armor smith recipes and see if you can get an augment that boosts the tanking stat you want, combine that with the ring you feel gives you the best basic stats (END, STR, etc) that you can afford, and find (or be) an artificer that is willing to make it for you. My cleric decided to make a blocking wand this way.

Tanks in FULL T1 gear still can get hit hard so it's probably not you or the healer you had. The way T1 Experts are meant is you are supposed to go into them with 48+ Blues from CC/AP/Cairns/Puzzles/Craftables, then replace those in the T1's you are running. It will be rough at first then get smoother each piece you get. Getting gear to drop that you need is always the "game" of running dungeons/raids.
