I spent some time on the Test shard checking out the new Wardrobe feature. As a packrat I tend to hang on to old armor just because I like how it looks, so this feature is a welcome addition! We take a look at wardrobes in our first Patch 1.2 Preview.

Neat, and nice preview there too.

One of the only things I really liked about Aion was that my characters could look however I wanted them to look just by overlaying armor models and applying dyes; I'm very happy to see a system like that come in to Rift

Also I'm THRILLED I'll be able to hide my shoulder armor... no lies

I'm definitely happy about hiding shoulder armor as well. Some people love it, some hate it.. I'm on the hate train there! Smiley: lol

This is probably a stupid question, but I assume you have to have the cosmetic armor in your actual bag that's on you? As opposed to just owning it in the bank? I've noticed a shortage of affordable bag space in this game. :)

You equip it in the wardrobe slots, so it doesn't take bag space. :)

Also you can equip older gear.. several of those outfits in that guide are my tutorial gear and gear I earned early on in Freemarch. Smiley: nod

I noticed the rogue starting outfit in your screenshot and assumed you'd just kept it in the bank all that time? I like the rogue starting outfit. :)

If I put it in a wardrobe slot and it gets kept there (which is extremely cool), what happens if I want to overwrite it? I can just click and drag things between my inventory and wardrobe? So basically this works the same as equipping regular armor?

Crikey, there are a lot of question marks in this post. Never a good sign. Sorry if I'm being thick about this, I know this is not a rare feature in MMO's in general but I have no experience with it.

And now that we have this, i can haz barber shop plz?

1. Yup, I hung onto the newbie outfits on the Test shard just for putting them in wardrobe. :) Unfortunately that one I no longer have on my normal play server. =\

2. Exactly, you can swap armor in and out of the wardrobe slots (if it's a bind-on-equip item, it will ask to bind it) just like your normal armor slots. Since there's 4 total sets you can have, that gives you up to 4 different places to store different appearances.. though sets 3 and 4 are VERY costly to unlock (60p and 100p).

3. Oh, guess there's no # 3. :D

A barber shop would be cool, one of my alts I forgot to change the hairstyle on and didn't realize it for a while, and now it constantly annoys me. =|

See, when this happens to me I am compelled to delete the character and start over. Regardless of level. The pre-barber years in WoW were difficult.

Yes, they really need a barber shop (if you can do ALL changes, that is). One of my character's skin is too light, she looks washed out and sickly. But she's 20 now, I don't want to start her over.
