Tired of missing the emotes of Infiltrator Johlen and Duke Letareus? Would you like someone to tell you when these bosses throw a blinding bomb or unleash? Tired of reading Guild chat? Would you like the game to talk to you?
RiftSay is the answer for raid warnings and Text to Speech. If you turn on logging in Rift with /log log it logs all the boss emotes and chat into a log file that can be read. Riftsay scans the file and with the raid warning toggled on it will use Text to Speech to say the boss emotes that are defined. It makes tanking Anrak the Foul easier as you won't miss those tail emotes!
RiftSay is a free program I wrote because I'm dyslexic. It basically looks at the log.txt that game produces and says the content selectively. You can toggle buttons in the UI for Raid Warning as well as Guild/Raid/Party/Whispers/Yell/Achievements/Channels/To.
You can get it here:
There is a screen shot there. I'd include it here but they do not allow images.
That pages has a brief description as well as a link to the zip file. Basically unzip it and run RiftSay.exe (after starting the rift game and going /log)
Make sure you /log before you run the program. You need to do this every time you start the game or change characters. I do wish it was like combat log.
It is still missing from the UI:
log file selection, setting the ignore string and raid warning string. These are in the riftsay.ini file where you can set those and the web page has instructions on how to do it. It keep the setting between run there so you can set it up once and keep it exactly as you want it. I will be adding those to the UI later. Otherwise it should have all the other features working. Give it a try if you want and let me know if you encounter any bugs. I do not raid much so additional Boss raid warning text as feedback would be awesome!
It was written in Python and turned into an exe. Sorry it is a Windows only program. I do not have access to a Mac or I'd port it over to their SAPI engine. The zip file includes the source code as well.
Give it a try and let me know what you think.
