Questions for PVP server residents and DefiantsFollow

I'm considering moving to a PVP server because I can't get the dailies done on my PVE one. Specifically the one to kill 25 players in Iron Pines is pretty much impossible because the other PVP quests in that zone don't actually flag you, so I can't fight another player unless they voluntarily flag themselves, which almost never happens. Kind of odd that we can run around each other all day doing PVP quests without ever doing any PVP.

Plus with all the incentives they've added to do world PVP, it seems like it would just be more fun on a PVP realm. (Even though I'd be squashed thoroughly and often.) How are you PVP realm peeps finding the world PVP situation post 1.4?

But while I'm at it, I was also toying with the idea of rerolling Defiant even though the hair styles are nowhere near as good*, because I get steamrolled in every warfront I do and it seems to me that things are pretty lopsided in favor of Defiant in that area of the game. I don't want to be carried**, but it's frustrating to go an entire night without winning a single game, and go in knowing that how I play isn't going to matter because we're still going to lose 500 to 42 no matter what I do.

OTOH I have pretty much instant warfront queues as Guardian. I understand the Defiant population is bigger. Are you Defiants waiting half an hour to get into a warfront? Because if it's just a repeat of playing Horde in WoW where I just had to sit in a queue for over half my play time, I will probably not bother.

Finally, if anyone has a realm to suggest that is high pop during peak times and has a reasonably close Guardian:Defiant ratio, I'd love to hear it.

*Female Bahmi are hawt.
** I mean, I don't want to be carried much.

PvP servers in Rift are much like PvP servers in WoW. Everyone complains that there's no world PvP and GG Trion you fail at world PvP and we're all world PvP gods in this fail game waiting for GW2 that will have excellent world PvP because Rift world PvP is bad...all comments heard while standing around trading stone turn-ins with players from the other faction to milk easy favor and prestige without having to actually try.

The majority of world PvP is ganking. If you play with your hubby you're less prone to it, but for the most part if the guy sizing you up for a beating determines that they have even a slim chance of losing, most of the time they just keep going.

I'm not going to say don't roll on a PvP shard because if you do you and you don't like it, there are free transfers readily available. I'm just going to say that they're often not all they're cracked up to be.

Also, Bahmi women are butch. Kelari, on the other hand...ohm nom nom....

Defiants lose just as much as Guardians do. It just all depends on your teammates (and you of course).

If you want to do the PvP daily of killing opposing faction people on a PvE server, your current best option is to use PvP Lures to open a PvP Rift.

I found this to be true while leveling, but as soon as I hit 50 I couldn't win anything. I wonder if this is more a factor of pugging than faction. Perhaps I'm facing a lot of premades, and if I pugged from the other side the same might happen. OTOH, if I found I always lost on both sides, I also might have to face the fact that the common denominator is, yanno, me.

Aurelius, I think that's sad that people are still whiny like that. Trion's gone out of their way with PVP rifts and quests to make world PVP desirable. I was kind of hoping it had inspired something. I still cling to my memories of battles at the Crossroads. :) Also, Kelari women have that weird huge nose-top with their eyes way too close to it. You just don't like Bahmi women because you suspect, correctly, that they could beat you up. Smiley: grin

I rolled my first characters as Defiant and the trip to 50 through warfronts as a rogue was not horrible, but then I hit 50 and I got so fed up with our horrendous performance in warfronts that I rerolled Guardian. Same wargroup, opposite faction. "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em" sort of thing. Worked well for a while but I got burnt out in general. I did some poking around and transfered to a new wargroup that is apparently a nice place to be for Guardians in PvP, but we'll see. I haven't played in a couple of months and I swapped around between characters to get reacquainted with who has what and where and suddenly realized I don't remember **** all. (I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had just enough favor to upgrade my rank 1 gear to rank 3, but meh).

And I have to rename my mage and I wasn't sure what to name her until I read this:

And decided to name her Teacakeisameanerlol.

You're just lucky it went over the character limit >:D

Smiley: lol Just let me know what shard and I'll be sure to roll a female Bahmi called Aureliusismadbro.

Actually it wasn't personal, Bahmi women can beat up anyone!

I did roll an Eth girl to goof around with - I get sucked in very easily by low level battlegrounds. So relaxing. So few buttons. Having multiple healing souls at 50 is so... cluttered. But ultimately I doubt I'll level up a whole new character just to switch sides. I like the Guardian landscape much better.

It annoys me every once in a while that I'm on a PvE server. This is the first time in almost 8 years of MMO gaming that I've been on a PvE server. They guy who bought my sub for me is here, though, so I don't feel like I have a lot of choice. Ah, well. His attachement to the server died a few days ago, so maybe we'll transfer to a PvP one.
