I am a huge fan of Action houses and other economic features in MMOs. What I am not a fan of is the way crafting is treated in most (maybe all) MMOs.
For starters an easy way to keep cash flowing in MMOs is crafting items for others, but why stop there? Why can't we craft ALL end game gear. Hear me out.
Lets say you want X piece of gear and are running a raid or w/e constantly with no luck. What if there was a vendor that sold recipes/patterns for end game gear but in order to make the gear you need to kill Y boss and loot Z item. you can then use Z item plus a list of other goods to get your piece of gear. It's kind of a spin on using tokens from vendors, except you use other players.
Players can get the recipes/patterns for items through some other form of currency that drops off bosses, this way raids will need to decide which class needs the gear first. DKP/GDKP/free roll can be used for whichever situation you find yourself in. maybe you can make the recipe currency BoE so non-raiders can get in on the crafting once eveyone has gained the patterns needed.
Of course bosses can drop other items/gear/gold or w/e but Crafting as it stands now in Rift and other MMOs seems stale and at best moderately worthwhile.
I am just wondering what others think about an idea like this, players being the "tier vendors" or w/e to keep cash circulating around the game.
