I know not a lot of you regulars seem to be all that huge on the PvP, and while I read the patch notes I spent this evening playing Skyrim instead of doing PvP dailies and getting splattered all over the place by mages in warfronts, but the skinny on the forums is that Trion "tweaked" the matching system to try and reduce the rank disparity and match people of similar ranks on a match by match basis.

Anyone see anything official about this? I honestly think this is another sneaky trick by the devs that, much like the anti-premade tweaks, is being used to generate an object lesson for people so that they stop crying about rank differences. After a week or two of exorbitant queue times, they'll roll back the change so that they can say to the "zomfg split warfronts by rank!!" squealers, "See? We tried, and look what you got..."

Anywhooo...just looking for some details. Though I must say, Skyrim is delicious so I'm in no rush...

Yeah if it happened it was on the down low. I mean considering the shear amount of qq about rank 8's destroying lower ranks would you blame them?

I don't blame them, but I don't see it has having solved anything. It looks to be another one of those things where they do what the players ask just to show them why it doesn't work, similar to how they initially released the dungeon finder tool to only work with players on your shard. All the "cross shard LFG ruins the community" quickly turned into "amg make it cross shard the queue times are horrible!" So now the focus on the forums (aside from mage QQ) is demands for wargroup merges to cut the queue times since not only are queues apparently horrendous, but once a match starts it's frequently with small groups of players (hearing a fair bit but 5v5 BG escalation). And if Trion caves and queues are still long with ranks split and everyone having been given what they asked for, what then?

They QQ and rage anyway. It's a no-win situation. It never ceases to amaze me how many people who don't like PvP demand it be changed to suit them. When all the excuses are gone, they're still going to get mashed.
