The real power of the Void Knight comes from Mana stolen from others, stored in Pacts, and then used to energize his strongest attacks and abilities. In the absence of the Mana of others, the VK can use his own rage to fuel his Pacts. The icon shown at left says that the VK has 10 active Pacts (the max) and they will stay active for another 33 seconds. So long as you use a skill that adds Pacts before the counter reaches zero you can keep your Pacts active indefinitely. Certain Soul Tree skills can extend the duration.

Important Tip: If you have a strong mob that you are about to fight, try finding weaker magic-users in the same area first and pump up your Pacts to 10, first. This both increases your DPS and prepares your stronger attacks for use if you need them.

There are four skills that will make up your primary rotation. You will use each depending on if your target is a caster or a fighter. As you rise in skill you will gain additional Mana/Pact manipulation skills but the following four are gained early and constitute your basic VK skills.

  • Reckless Strike - This is your main Direct Damage ability. Additionally, it does more damage the more active Pacts you have, capping at an extra 40% damage (Weapon plus 8 to 100 plus 40%, depending on Rank).
  • Pact Conversion - (Finisher) If you are not at max (10 Pacts) and the target is a fighter (yellow or purple bar) use this to convert Attack Points to Pacts.
  • Devouring Blow - (Finisher) If you are not at max (10 Pacts) and the target is a caster (blue bar) use this to steal Mana and store it as Pacts.
  • Discharge - (Finisher) This is a fight ender. If the target is severely wounded this will convert all your active Pacts to Air Damage for 80 to 220 damage (depending on Rank).

Be sure to keep Void up, as this has a chance every time you hit to steal Mana and add a Pact.
